6min 13secs for 295kb size file - lol

I'm rather hacked off today, for a few reasons.

One of those is download virgin GPRS speeds suck, really they do.

My downloads are either bombing out, or going slower than a bloody snail.

I thought i'd moniter a file i downloaded (sure there are variables as to why it could be slow, but its, been like this all day - and, might i add, its been kuk recently - latency i think it called)

using flashget it took 6mins and 13secs for 295kb file.

Not even two seconds... but then again that would be comparing an apple to a pear
 
Hi Boodles, it took 1min 35sec on my VM GPRS.
During the first minute the transfer speed was between 4 to 7Kb p/sec, then the dropdown to zero as always, and upwards to the end at 1 to 3 kb p/sec.
 
My download blasted away at over 16KB/s. Then dropped to 1.5 and climbed slowly to about sub 3KB/s. I'm think that server is slow.
Downloaded: 295KB in 1 min 59 sec

Using VM EDGE
 
I took 1min 4sec on VirginMobile sim card.
I'm under CellC network.
Just GPRS not EDGE(my cell phone doesn't support EDGE).
But when i change to vodacom network. The speed become slower, why?
 
12 minutes 11 seconds on VM GPRS Class-10. This is appalling! And this at 1AM! What is going on?
 
I think i'll start keeping a download log of files i download. Not that i d/l much but i'll post them here when i've done a few.
 
Edwe, my VM EDGE died a few times in your download timerame. At about 1am i gave up. Just had to "kick-start" my connection now to Use the connection.
