Combined price ADSL offerings: What is available?

The Do1 package was pretty attractive until the service threshold available in Do2/3 was canned. It was avaiable for the first 2 months after it was launched though.

Dare I state the obvious. +-R120 Telkom analogue to be added, to these wonderful packages.

saix

im guessing all these are saix based accounts. any idea about when IS will be offering accounts like these.
and also what happened to telkoms relaxed capping policy.

and what have been people's experiences with migrating from a current Telkom subscription to an all-inclusive offering with another ISP? Is there any downtime?

You can't...

You need to cancel your current line and re-apply...

I wanted to move the line rental to Web Africa and the only way I can get 100% uptime is buy installing a second analogue line, then requesting ADSL on that and then finally canning my old ADSL...

idiotic

Nice comparison, but how do you get R174 for 1Gb on 384 for WebAfrica? It was R199 last time I checked (yesterday).

There will be, as you have to cancel your current ADSL with Telkom, and then apply with your ISP of choice.

should show 2 or 3GB packages on 384kbps as this is what the bulk of users will be looking at. 1GB is too little 2-3Gb is about ok on 384k. on a higher speed its silly.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, although I'm sure it was cleared up a while ago.

If you have a phone line already, you don't have to pay this an an extra, the R199 (for example) would in fact be the full price for your ADSL portion of the bill?

If you don't have a phone line then you'd have to add R120 to get the full price?

I don't know why I bothered with question marks. :/

It's R149 for the first 12 months, they've taken the average over 2 years, but afaik you don't have to sign a 2 year contract.

Summary of Restrictions/Limitations
-----------------------------------
1. Payment is by debit order only. The debit order will be processed on the first working day of every month.

2. You are required to give one months notice in writing when cancelling.

3. You may only use the account at one location - you may not use the same account at your home and at your office or at your friend's premises, but you may connect as many computers as you wish at your own premises.

4. You can only use one account at the same location- if we detect multiple accounts connecting from the same place, all subsequent accounts will be treated as top ups and you will be charged the top up rate.

5. You are required to use the @cybersmart.co.za email address that comes free with your ADSL account

6. If you overshoot your 3Gig Cap by manipulating the session timeout, the Gigs that you used, but did not pay for will be subtracted from your following months cap.

7. If you subscribe to our ADSL service, you are required to cancel any other ADSL service you may have with any other ISP.

8. If you make a mistake and say that you have a 192Kb service installed but you in fact have a 512Kb circuit installed, don't worry, you need not phone in and tell us, our system will detect it and your price will be adjusted to the price advertised for the correct circuit speed.

These restrictions are here to help us streamline our administration and reduce our overhead so that we can pass on these savings to you the customer. There are further long winded reasons for these restrictions document below the terms and conditions and repeated in the FAQ under "What are your reasons for all the restrictions in ...", for your added reading pleasure.

Cybersmart again: 2, 6 and 8 are understandable, the rest are anti-competitive. Could somebody please take notice of their FAQ before only writing about how wonderful their prices are and generating tons of victims for them?

Point 1 is just frigging annoying and I will think long and hard before accepting any ISP that only offers debit order payments.

Contact them again. Telkom has finally allowed ISP's to migrate existing lines.

I wish you would stop posting articles about ADSL connectivity not stating the R112 odd telkom line price not included or even referenced in the article.

YOU CANNOT HAVE ADSL WITHOUT THE LINE COST OF R112.

The article is confusing people who dont know better. Its as bad as a telkom advert ffs.

imo what's confusing people is a post like this where they then think they will have to pay an extra R112 for ADSL, when they don't. Assuming they have a phone line of course seeing as most people who are new to ADSL or broadband will.

I don't see why it's a cost related to ADSL, you pay that for your phone line, wether you think you should or not, you do. It doesn't have anything to do with adding ADSL onto the Telkom bill.

It's only a problem for a very, very small amount of people. Most people here post asking if they will then have to pay an extra R112, that is confusing, not this article.

Is Neotel still on track to launch their products next month?

Cybersmart...

If i'm not mistaken....the R169 for Cybersmart is for 4 gig's not for 1 Gig....get your facts straight Mr Author.
