I've basically stopped reading newspapers with the arrival of online news portals. Now I also use Firefox's live bookmarks for RSS feeds extensively to avoid visiting all the portals. RSS feeds FTW!

what i don't like about live bookmarks is that it continuously downloads the feeds... I don't like wasting bandwidth.
I started using Google Reader a while ago. It is great!! You can sort feeds, email items to friends (using your gmail account) with email address auto completion, just to name a few features. you can even take your feeds 'offline' and read them without being connected to the net.

Good point about the bandwidth. Google Reader is nice, I like the fact that you can see which feeds are read/unread.

I basically gave up reading the newspapers in 1987 and felt better for it. Not to say I'm not informed, just the constant bad news you get thrown at you - its not needed !
