Call centres to gain from Telkom fee cut

Shock Horror, Ivy finally does something

October said the communications department this week finally issued Telkom with an instruction to drop its prices for business process outsourcing (BPO) operations, to bring the cost of telecommunications in line with other BPO destinations.

Did Ivy wake up from her sleep. While she is awake, I suggest RPM pays her a visit and gives her some additional instructions
 
This is all good and well, to outsource Call Centers and attract foreign investment and create jobs, however, why should the general public and local business "subsidise" this initiative with our own high telecoms prices, so that Telkom can give these BPO's a discount? Surely we should all get in on this pie?

This is no success. And anybody who says so is blind to the present state of things.

It pretty much exemplifies government's failure to move the telcoms industry forward.

Where in the rest of the world markets regulate themselves with solid regulators, SA has become so bogged down in the mess guavamint helped create from 1997 onwards that said incompetents must now aggressively manipulate this failed market in order to get any foreign investment into attached sectors such as with BPO.

This has failure written all over it.

I am so ashamed of this country when we have incompetents like this continually farking it up for the rest of the people.
 
Jay Naidoo must be happy as his call center interests can now perhaps compete.
 
But what about us hoi polloi?

I say this is unconstitutional as this only help a privileged few and not the whole country...
 
This is a farce. And why can't they see it. In the event that all telecoms prices are reduced in like with international, then the whole economy would get a boost and employment would be created.

SA is really a backward place.
