ok i dont know if any one had this problem. But for the past 3 dayz:sick:Firefox is not starting up like it use to in vista.
Wnen i double click the desktop icon it loads then boom nothing.I went to processes and i can see it there, but when i try and end the process it does not want to end,I tried force end the firefox.exe in the task manager but its so stubborn,it does not want to die,The bastard is hanging on a thread(double meaning there).

I tried reinstalling firefox but it still does it.

So this is my last option,Give me a reason not to delete firefox of my system and use that crap ie7.
I do have no choice,i will have to use ie7 if this keeps up.:(

Quick question? Do you have Quicktime installed? Take it off and FF2 will start ;)

no quick time is not installed,Let me bring some more light,Firefox works sometimes, and sometimes it don't start up and i can see the process in the task manager, but no visual.
I tried double clicking the icon on the desktop and vista tells me that firefox did not respond and i must end the process or restart the pc...weird.This only like started 3 days ago, before that firefox was fine.I am really frustrated with as sometimes when this problem arises and i have a link in my email,i click the link n my email and then a window pops up to let me search for the browser exe file.

This sucks..man.I really am at wits end as i know my way with a pc but this is bothering me.

start up ff in safe mode
and uninstall all your plugins
uninstall ff
install ccleaner and execute
restart pc
download newest ff
install
reinstall all favorite plugins

Uninstall Vista, reinstall XP, or better still, switch over to SuSE Linux... :)

Had FF do this to me twice now in XP as well...

libs..you just made me burst out laughing in tears now.thanks for lighterside life.
teraside,Idid a couple of those that you mentioned, but it only happened now one time.
So what i did was 8 out of 10 times it launched.but still not 100%.
I am looking into the java plugin i installed 3 days ago.Seems that the is a problem there.Let me check.
Well is this not suspicious,my java plugin i downloaded is 13.8mb,right.
but after i installed it,i see in vista programs and features its a whopping 160mb.Is this normal. Can a compressed file(which is actually a setup.exe)uncompress and istall to 160 mb.

It's possible ;) but I highly doubt it.

Forget Java plugins, just use the java runtime from: www.java.com

Basically, if you start your profile from scratch in FF, you will lose all your add ons and bookmarks etc. it will be like a default installation, which means if it still makes problems after that, then you could have a virus or something ;)

This is truly the saddest day of my life,I have uninstalled fire fox totally from my system,After so many years of mozilla,I truly am sad,as i just cant fix it,i have done everything known to man and machine.I am using ie7 now to browse this forum. If there is anyone that can tell me whats wrong i will gladly resurrect my ole pal.

Here is th details of my products....ff version 2.02(s0mething like that)
java standard edition 6 version 1.60(build 1.6.0_02-b06)

So there you have it thats.
If i only could end the process in vista task manager it would not as been so bad but,Fire fox.exe just sits there no matter what you do.
ff version is 2.0.0.2 and not the 2.0.0.6 version.

1) Go to your User Profile Settings and delete the entire Mozilla folder...

C:/Documents and Settings/Your User Name/Application Data/Mozilla

2) Go to C:/Program Files also and make sure the Entire Mozilla Firefox folder is also gone.

3) Download a Registry Cleaner and make sure that all the old Firefox Registry Entries are gone.

http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

4) Run a complete System Defrag and Virus Scan. Use this Defragging Tool... Download it, unzip it... and double click on the "JkDefrag.exe" tool... just let it do it's thing.

http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/

5) Download the latest version of Firefox, the 2.0.0.6 version and install it. Send it for a test Drive. If it works, great. If it still hangs, then something else on your system is causing it to hang. Uninstall all the other programs you don't use anymore and take everything out of your startup folder. Try closing all the other utilities in your system tray one at a time until you figure out which program is causing it to hang.

6) If it works then install all your extenstions and settings.

7) If it still does not work, then reformat your computer... you just can't live without Firefox :D

try ccleaner
also before you do anything, create a new user on windows
login with that user and try using ff see if it change anything.

gary thanks, but most of the things you said i have done already,HEre is my update

2-defraged an checked for viruses
