I see that Openweb has decided to start capping at 30GB :(
I used 32GB and been capped for this month...

When did they start hardcapping? Heard they were allowing users to download a lot more about 2 months ago.

IS decided.

EDIT: The last two months, at least, have seen capping closer to 30GB

and added more throtthling and shaping as from 1st Aug 2007 - which can't be explained yet by openweb nor IS in full details.

39 days later: mrBeep and IS - no full explination.

we might just as well setup our own known list of what and what is not begin done to us ?

...i would be however like to know how worth it is this 30G local accounts as per their selling point to every one

"hey look we give you 30G's local" ;)

to all the issues one must also have local usage to make it worth your earnings.

then theres the issue of local that should not be capped - which i suppose will never or at least very soon be implemented

IS does the capping , Openweb simply resells

very conveniently -

Napalm to what end would you say are the responsibilities of an ISP to a client ?

and in turn what are their providers responsibilities ?

for example is it our job to inform ourselves of network issues, how you use and when we have used our data or when a limit was set in place ?

dude, openweb isnt the only ISP that sells IS bandwidth.

I dont think you have the right to tune them, when there are other isps that also sell the same service.

If you have an issue with openweb, sue them; otherwise, dont knock them.

I am very happy with openweb and their service, and mrbeeps rocks. if i was gay, i would marry the dude. (thats of course is hes gay too) hehe

 - all we need is love ? lol

btw i had part in an isp for a long while - to your last question, i very well know what good and loyal customers wants.
you get back to your clients - which seems to be only done if its 'easy' and not to much work these days.

i still stand by that its the isp's duty to keep you updated and informed not other way round - i am paying them for just that.
...

for interest sake what product do you have at the moment ?

I have a package from supersmart (cybersmart) and a 384k from openweb.

sure, it is. but dude, you are on a mission to attack openweb. you hardly mention any of the other isps who also sell the same stuff.

wtf??

I see Necuno's point though - surely a reseller should know what the product is that he is selling. So when I ask him questions about it I shoudl be able to get answers.

I would find it difficult to believe that OpenWeb are buying products from IS without knowing what the terms and conditions are that they are entering into.

what i am trying to get exactly - the terms, conditions, the exact limitations how and when they are implemented, of the products in question from IS.

Excellent point!!! :D someone should start take responsibility for what they sell.. I don't care where they get their bandwidth from... all they do is point finger to IS or SAIX etc... common really... buy a car at xx, car broke 2 weeks after purchase, go back to xx and xx point finger at xxxx in USA.. "maybe we should start boycotting an ISP until they posted a descent SLA on their website" vote for an ISP to be boycotted and no one buy bandwidth from them that month..."

And frankly it's not IS that my money is going to. The money they get from me has a markup that they have added on top of the IS price. If they were adding no mark up I would say that they have every right to pass the buck on.

They can not be excused from customer service. I think as a matter of principle they owe Necuno that much.

So in fact, if they do not know what they are selling surely they can be put up in front of the ASSA to stop advertising the product. I bet that would make them get answers for their clients.

Hi Friends

I'm afraid OpenWeb cannot implement an SLA, as Telkom does not have one, nor our upstream provider IS.

This is the information we have: Shaping takes place during office hours on most P2P and torrent ports. After hours, shaping is relaxed.

Shaping does exist on the local bandwidth, to a much much lower extent.

The IS News Server is provided as a free value added service, with no guarantees.

We sell SAIX and IS accounts.

SAIX shaping is slightly different to IS's, as SAIX does not offer free local bandwidth once an account has been capped.

Customer service is on top of our list, and we always ask clients to email us first at [email protected] This is our main channel of support. We can guarantee our support level via our support channels, but not via a public forum.

I trust this information will assist.

Kind regards
MrBEEP
