Addictive, that’s Wii

i would like to see it demo before i would consider buying it

No propriatary junk.
R500 for a 8MB PS2 mem card etc.
 
The article's not quite correct. It does have wi-fi, but it doesn't have a built in web browser; you have to buy it with wii points and download it. And that's not supported in SA; you have to set your location to a country that is supported (and the weather and news channels therefore aren't supported either).

That aside, though, it really is great fun. And good exercise too :-) Only problem is that if you're no good at, say, tennis, in real life, you won't be any good at tennis on the Wii!

Wii got one last weekend.

My 7 year old has had a fun-filled week leaping all over the lounge. He even let me play once or twice. It's fun!
 
I watched some people play the Wii at the rAge expo last weekend and have to admit (as an Xbox360 owner) that the Wii does have some appeal. Wii Sports (which you get bundled with the game I believe) looks like awesome fun.. The only other game they had on display there was Zelda, which looked alright, but not quite as much fun.

But once these games have been played to death, then what? What other games are out there, that are Wii exclusives, that would justify the purchase?
Does the Wii have as many games available locally as the PS3 / 360?

Those questions make me skeptical right now.
 
For ages younger than 12 and older than 60 the wii is an awesome gift. No chance I will pay the same price for the Wii as a Next Gen Console. Core Group are bullsh1t! Its cheaper to import from the fcuking north pole than to buy electronic stuff in SA.
 
I may have developed tennis elbow from overdoing the Wii. The golf is awesome and I wanna wanna Tiger Woods golf (I have NEVER bought a sports game in my life and am excited about a golf game!)... The Wii is so different from my 360... More social, definitely.
 
Now that it's here, I will buy mine from overseas. Why should I buy one when Nintendo insist on letting the third world get ripped off - it's way overpriced (the games were supposed to be cheaper than the Xbox and PS3).

THAT PRICE SUCKS BIG TIME.
 
I tried the console out back in January and was totally amazed by it, the only reason I haven't bought one myself is because of the fact that every time I play I am stiff for days after... So far the most fun's been Wii Sports and the new Sonic game (which is absolutely AWESOME!!)

Nope, you most definitely don't have to be a tennis player to be able to play tennis on the Wii. Unless you are a slobbering wheelchair bound obese gamer, you'll actually know what tennis is and what motions are required to hit a ball. That is sufficient to be able to start the game and you will improve. In an hour's time you'll be looking like a pro.

I 2nd that. And the reverse is true, IMO, in that you may be decent at something in real life but possibly suck at it in Wii life :p

E.g. The bowling for me :) Until I got my Wii technique right that is... :p
