Guys this is hot-off-the-press... :)

Always looking out for u guys so thought id let u no of a little gem i found today..

www.voipraider.com

Offers FREE calls to South African landlines...

Tested, and it works!

" Remember VoipRaider has policy of Buying credits which entitles you to 120 Freedays of free calls to free destinations only. "

I read that somewhere, apparently it only lets u have a few free calls...but ive made quite a few myself and its still going strong!

Also the free SMS feature is cool

enjoy guys, lemme no how it goes ;)

I saw this thread and just couldn't help myself, I clicked on it straight away.

oh well.. thanks.

A few strings... "Remember VoipRaider has policy of Buying credits which entitles you to 120 Freedays of free calls to free destinations only."

:) ur welcome...well as i said i havent had any problems so far... and hopefully i wont have to experience them

if worse comes to worst we can buy a few credits costing a few rand :P

and the free SMS feature alone is awesome! works like a charm!

Yeah they want money for the "120 Freedays of free calls to free destinations only. "

I also means , that Free calls to SA isn't FREE "Offers FREE calls to South African landlines..."

If you register, you will propably get a certian amount of free minutes, maybe 60minutes. Then u have to buy a account to be entitled to the 120 Days Free thingie

ok sorry... just thought u ppl might enjoy it...

i am :D made a few calls already...

and AFAI can see the SMS's are free as well...sent a few already...

so thats a cool feature in itself..

@3x-a-d3-u5 : Good to hear :) lemme no how it goes ;)

It's probably the same company as VoipCheap. The free minutes come with conditions but you could make free 1-2 minute calls from their website, using the TEST feature if you really wanted to. You would probably need to reset your IP address each time to do it. VoipCheap gives you 120 days of 120 (of 180) min per week free calls to free destinations, once you exhaust these 120 days you can make regular calls at sub-Skype rates. It really is a FREE service if you're using say Skype to make these calls right now,
because Skype charges for them. I've been using VoipCheap and it works fine.

The only problem is that they could rotate the FREE numbers. SO depending on where you want to call, your destination could disappear.

betamax.com? You guessed it.

www.12voip.com also offers free calls to SA - it's also part of the same Betamax Empire though! Just be warned that the free countries change regularly but even still Betamax generally offer the best value for money Voip services at the moment.

Does not want to register me after I done the download etc, anyone else have this problem.?

try www.voipraider.com

hmm.... i thought the SMS's were "free" but today i see R2 has been deducted from my account?

i dont remember making any calls or sending any SMS's so im prettu sure that its VoipRaider..

so be warned...dont go crazy on the "Free SMS" option that VoipRaider use...i think it charges.

I don't think that SMSs are free to SA numbers on Voipraider (see below). Did you SMS to SA numbers or international ones? With all of the Betamax companies you have to check the fine print very carefully. I have been using Voipstunt for 2 years now and couldn't imagine living without it. Occasionally there are one or two glitches in the billing where I have been overcharged for one or two calls but I have also been substantially undercharged. I am really happy to support any company that can significantly undercut any of Telkom/Vodacom/MTN's overpriced and under delivered services.

If you consider that Betamax still have to pay all of the large Telecoms operators to route their calls across their networks their rates are excellent. I have even found that the Betamax services are more reliable than my Telkom landline which is occasionally unavailable to make calls even though the ADSL part may be operating fine.

Hey guys...I am so stoked...just managed to get sip with lowratevoip working on my N80ie. I like the rates there for SA phones and it has the most free destinations of all the sites. SA landlines 9.7cents a min and celluar 87cents per min. not too shabby. Might even give fring a go and see how that works.

Oh and now on lowratevoip..free smses...i saw this message on there site
LowRateVoip now offers FREE SMS messages to several destinations like:

Austria
Chile
France
Greece
Hungary
Indonesia
Netherland
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Russian Federation
Serbia and Montenegro
Switzerland
United States

Send SMS messages to all these destinations for 0 ct/message!!
