I am using a PPDB and did stay connected and download files way past my bundle has expired (±1.5Gb over). I had R87 credit and I have tried to recharge the sim on internet banking with R 110 to buy a new 500Mb bundle. The recharge transaction confirmed the transfer but the balance
on my sim remain R00-00.

Is this normal? Did Vodacom take my credits and newly purchased airtime?

Did you transfer the money onto the SIM whilst connected?

Yes. I am connected now!

If you ran out of Megs, and you had credit left, and you tarnsfered money to the SIM whilst still connected, without purchasing a new bundle, then you went OOB (Out of Bundle Rate)

I agree. I am OOB. My question is how far can I go? My account on V4me
show R00-00 since yesterday. Will they keep on taking my credits if I recharge? Should I dump the simcard. The speed is very slow!

I have not tried to disconnect - I suppose i would not be able to log on again.

I warned about this a few days ago. The system is not functioning in real time anymore so it only takes credits a few minutes after you used the data. If you use it fast enough you get a negative credit before it realises you don't have airtime anymore which then get deducted from the recharge amount. You should throw away the SIM if that is the case and you don't have an investment in it.

You can go as far as there is Airtime on the SIM.

But to save you alot of money, when you know you've hit OOB, recharge the SIM via Internet Banking with (for example R200), go to Vodacom4me, and purchase a PPDB. Then you wont waste all that money.

That's how i used to do it, it worked for me.

What you need to do is correlate the "data" (info), put together a tut and share it with us. A "free" half a gig can come in handy. ;)
It's easy actually. Do a large download with a zero balance at the end of your bundle preferable at 03:00 when it is fast until it stops. Then throw away the sim and continue your download with a new sim and a new bundle. Don't know how much you will get, if what it would cost on a bundle is less than what you paid for the sim it's not really worth it. Leave it to Vodacom to find a way to still steal our airtime.

I think you missed the part that it went into OOOOB (out of out of bundle) and when he recharged it took all his airtime. If my suspicion is correct he got a negative balance after disconnecting.

Can we please have a followup skerpieon?

PS: 1.5GB is approximately R3,000. Deduct R87 plus the R110 recharge and it should show ~R-2,803.

I can not - or rather do not want to confirm that I did get a -balance. V4me showed R00-00 balance before & after the R110 IB recharge. I did download 1.83Mb of data on top of my 500Mb bundle that I normally use. I was not capped - exept for the fact that the tranfer rate droped to 18 - 35Kbps after a while!

The situation got even weirder. I checked the balance again this morning and found that my balance now show R92 ?? I can not see a logic reason for the amount of R92. This is not enough for IB recharge. Which mean that I would have to recharge ny account with at least R100 to buy a new 500Mb bundle. I have not tried to use the sim since I could not log on last friday.

I guess it's time to dump the sim!

I think its time you do it the old fashioned way...

Place the SIM in a phone. Recharge (on the phone). Load the Data Bundle (on the phone). And connect. You cancel out the risk of going into OOB if you do it this way!

From my understanding, I'd say that there's got to be a bug/bugs in the vodacom system somewhere.
I've also experienced some rather strange things with the data bundles over the past few months.

Btw...how do you guys recharge over the internet?
I have a Nedbank personal account with an online profile which I use almost everyday, but I can't seem to figure out how to purchase airtime.

There should be a prepaid option somewhere there. Check under "Payments" or something similar.

Unfortunately there isn't. I've checked several times in the past.
There is a way to do it with Kwikpay or something, but it requires phoning in. I was hoping to be able to do it through my browser.

Absa Internet Banking has it. I'm surprised that Nedbank doesnt.

If you have Discovery Vitality you can purchase discounted airtime from them. The only pain is you have to fax them a form with you cell number and details first. I also used ABSA internet banking once in the past and it worked really well.
