Can you tell me where you get these detailed notices please? Also, is it still going on?

I'm having trouble connecting (requires a few tries), and getting very poor speeds, connection drops etc, on both saix unshaped and verizon unshaped.

In typical Telkom fashion however, your line must be down for more than 24 hours concurrently before credit applies. None of these outages was more than 24 hours, but yeah... It does suck...

it that time of the week AGAIN !

/sigh

Telkom really needs to do something about the Bellville exchange or whatever it is thats causing these sporadic disconnects. Its been going on for longer than I care to remember, and getting rather tiresome.

How would we go about claiming money back from telkom, because this is not cricket.

If the fault lasted for more than 24 hours (and you reported it the second it started) you might be able to get something off... but don't count on it... telkom are notorious for just ignoring you.

They're still trying to claim R1500 from me for an adsl line that i cancelled nearly a year ago, but they just didn't cancel.

was down here since 12. finally seems to have connected now again , sigh it seems we are affected by every single problem its like a weekly occurance

If I had to take a guess I'd say its broken equipment being patched up because helkom refuses to fork out and replace it, fixing the problem for good.

Either that, or its just the sheer incompetence we have come to expect from telkom.

Nothing to do with that. Telkom was incompetent long before 1994. But believe what you want. I suggest that you go ask Siener van Rensburg for FiOS.

Nothing like they are now, mate, believe me! At least in the "bad old days" their Technicians were trained and did a 3 year course and knew how to use their testing equipment.

2 days ago a techie arrived at the house and had no clue how to sync his router. Ok, he knew where the power button on his HP was but that was all. When the area manager arrived to "FIX THE PROBLEM" I found out the he (the area manager) did not know what a ping command was let alone what it told him. How can you fix something when you haven't a clue it exists in the first place?

No mate, in the past they were at least trained and even served apprenticeships. They were not perfect BUT they were infinitely better than what we are dealing with today.

Siener van Rensburg

hahahaha !! :D

We will be having an all white government again anyday now, and reinstate apartheid while we're at it.

*cough*

dude plz, this is a serious discussion.
