Telkom cans SAIX Web Accelerator

Seems more like a dodgy marketing tool to force dial-up clients to migrate to ADSL.

Telkom confirmed that the Web Accelerator will no longer be supported by the company, saying that the low utilisation of this functionality amongst current dial-up customers and the constant increase in customer migration from dial-up to ADSL services was the reason for this decision.
What marketing has Telkom done if this product? I by accident came across it one day on the SAIX website. I can only remember MWEB advertising it's version of the accelerator a year or so back.

The accelerator was a re-branded OLD version of SlipStream. It only improved your general browsing speed on dial up and not much else. It compressed the crap out of JPegs and other images, making them look really washed out and horrid looking.

The Telkom SAIX Web Accelerator – which promised an enhanced user experience to dial-up and ISDN subscribers – will be discontinued on 1 December.

was not of much use anyway.
