ADSL Regulations – Is Telkom in compliance?

Telkom’s Group Executive for Corporate Communication, Lulu Letlape, says that Telkom is in full compliance with the ADSL regulations.
There you have it.
To disprove Lulu Letlape, open a 1GB teklom acount, and play Battlefield 2 on the SAIX servers for 20 hours. Then go and try to browse www.youtube.com.
You will have used your entire 1GB allocation on local bandwidth, and will have been capped.
i.e. Local bandwidth still counts towards the cap.
i.e. Lulu Letlape is a liar.

Her lips were moving - she was lying. Otherwise she's delusional for believing that telkom's definitions should count for something in the real world.

I fully agree!!

One of the most contentious issues surrounding the regulations is the stipulation that “local bandwidth usage shall not be subject to a cap”. Here Telkom argued that they will not cap local usage, but bill users for any local bandwidth usage after being capped.

This is what they call uncapped?? WTFEVER!!!

Let me see... Their uncapped service which is capped that isn't free will be charged with a amount of which is currently unknown.

They go and contradict themselves.

What a pile of crud! Can't we complain to someone over this - this is pure lies!

I'm sure if Telkom isnt in complete compliance then ICASA will take them to task and tear them a new . . . . . wait a sec ICASA is incapable of deciding which side of the bread they want buttered let alone enforcing the pitiful regs they trundled out so long ago.

Surely ICASA could clear thing up right now by expressly stating what they were trying to convey with the regulations.

Any idea when we'll see the benefits of Telkom loosing their exclusivity to the SAT3 cable? What's the deal for th ISPs?

The findings of these hearings will be published next week, ICASA said.

Summarized as: "uhm yeah... like.. we.. oohhh donuts!"

Telkom ounce again has a blatant disregard for any laws of compliance and again screw the end user...

How can you be told to provide free local bandwidth and then come up with a way of still charging for it... guess Telkom and there lawyers failed english.

They were not told to provide free local bandwidth. Where do you get that from? They were told to not cap local usage. They can still charge for it. So they should eg. provide you with an uncapped local only account when you pay your line rental each month. Thus a flat rated service, but that is not the way they are interpreting it at the moment. LOL @ "guess Telkom and their lawyers failed English" :D

Actually, Telkom's definitions count for everything in the real world. They shouldn't, but they do.

lol they not really making a strong case for "improved customer service" here. Geeeeez they really don't get it do they? ...hmmm or do they? Argh to hell with the lot of them.

 Like a sick joke!! SICK inside joke
I bet they think they're the shlt now.

"Look at us! you're all stupid we've got u all fooled even ICASA"

U know what ur a bunch of w@nkers!

It makes no sense...

AT THE MOMENT, when you get capped you have to pay to get more international bandwith and local bandwith

AT THE MOMENT there is .za only ISP accounts available allready...

Unless the local part is free ...or rather at no further expense than the current monthly fee...

what you are suggesting is, that IN THE FUTURE when I get capped, I have to pay for international and pay for local bandwidth again...

I.e. it would stay EXACTLY THE SAME AS NOW...

Therefore I can only interpret ICASAs order to mean that there should be no interruption in the flow of local bandwitdh once the cap has been reached. As I believe a further ruling said that local bandwidth should not contribute to caps, which it still does...
