Cellular Data Bundles – who offers the best deal?

IMO Cell C isn't even worth considering, MTN & VC then have the same prices for the bigger bundles so it comes down to who has better coverage where you plan to use it. Although VC don't limit uploads to 64kpbs which can be quite a benefit depending on what you plan to use it for.
 
Think its worth mentioning that you cannot "top up" an MTN data bundle like you can with Vodacom, if you use your 1G/whatever during the 30 days you are forced into out-of-bundle rates until the 30 days is up.

Interesting: CellC is mentioned for "entry level"; but Virgin Mobile is not!?
 
Nobody is going to change cellphone service provider to save R20 per month - and that is the bottomline when comparing the cost of appropriate bundles per user across the specturm.

Point made - but it would have been worthwhile to mention it and give the tariffs for similar amounts of data.

AFAIK Virgin Mobile charges a fixed ZAR0.50/MB regardless of the amount of MB used, if one compares that with the last column in the table in the article "Cost / MB", then Virgin Mobile is effectively only competitively priced for amounts <500MB, for amounts >=500MB it would be more expensive to use data from Virgin Mobile.
 
None of them offer the best deal.. they all offer the same deals.. :rolleyes: - Cell-C being R4.00 cheaper hardly qualifies as better.. :p (Especially as they only have EDGE)

I use MTN because they offer me HSDPA in my area.. Cell-C offers me EDGE and Vodacom (currently) only offers me GPRS.. - not really a difficult choice is it? :p

If Vodacom where to launch HSDPA in my area I'd have no real reason to switch .. that said, if they did release HSDPA in my area - I probably would try them out for a couple of months just to figure out who's service is more reliable/faster..
 
how can the vodacom & mtn prices be so much the same? seems like a "we wont hurt you if you dont hurt us attitude" - i thought they were supposed to compete? so wheres the competition? hmmmm?

Well, i guess its "South African" competition. All 1600 VW Golf competitors are equally priced +/-R1000....? No competition.

Vodacom and MTN are not in competition, they just match eachother...

Vehicles manufacturers, banks, mobile networks are all using the same model of "competition". There is NO choice, there is NO competition...

Apparently its different than the Tiger Brands scandal....:confused:
 
still does smack of the same tiger brands scandal.. dunno how cellular costs dont get the same spotlight??

Also airtime included in top up contracts cannot be used to buy data bundles:rolleyes: [MTN].

That Stinks! I'm on a VC TopUp 400 = R289 for 1gig bundle, rest for calls.

Now if only they'd re-introduce call sponsor or twinsim or datasim for topup. Just one please. Then I can still get calls whilst typing this post
