Hi,

When i attempt to connect to a server locally (IS) it takes AGES to connect to the server apposed to when my int account is activated.

My router is in bridge mode and i am using Routesentry for other games. I am aware that Routesentry does NOT work with Cod4.

I have 2 dial-up / ISDN connections (1 being local acc, 1 being int. acc). I have tried connecting my LOCAL only account (only acc active, int is disconnected, routesentry is NOT running) I refresh my favourites list, al servers are showing etc. However when i attempt to connect it states "waiting for server response... [#] . . ." I have tried several times and i have waited until 80 when i gave up. I then tried with my Int. account connected and my local disconnected (Routesentry is DISABLED / OFF) And the int. account connects to the server literally 1 second after i click connect. I really need to play on my local account as it is my 20gb account. My int is only 3gb. I have tried connecting with my int. then minimizing my game, connecting local and disconnect int. But the server states "connection problem" and disconnects me.

My local account works for Steam games (css ect.).

please help

Have you tried the SAIX game servers? games.saix.net

If those don't work, then you know it's a problem with the account not the servers.

When i open my console connecting to it states lots of times: EXE_KEYAUTH ...

Jimbo, try this:

Problem:

You cannot connect to any cod4 server, you get "Awaiting key code Authorization" until the server times out.

Reason:

Cod4 cannot connect to the cod4 master server (could be dns related?) You can check this yourself by opening the console, you will see several failures to resolve cod4master.activision.com

The Fix:

Manually add the ip address and host name to your computers hosts file:

open: c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

Add this line to the file, save and exit.

63.146.124.21 cod4master.activision.com

P.S if the ip address for cod4master.activion.com changes then you will need to update the file.

AND remember to backup your hosts file before you modify it, just for incase ;)

I did the above, i am still seeming to experience the same thing even if i have totally disabled bridge-mode and connected my local account via the router itself. Also editing my hosts file as described above. Here is a screenshot of what i am experiencing BEFORE and AFTER the above method:

I have tried the fix above but I cannot solve this problem. I can access into my local server game but my friends cannot access into it because "Awaiting keycode authorization message" appears until connection timeout.

Please can anyone help me?

thank you!

COD4's CD Authentication message is sent to the same ip address that the COD4 game is logged onto.

But, no worries, cos ISP's are allowing the local connections to transmit data to the COD Authentication servers.

Your problem happens cos the rely is expected to arrive on the international pipeline.

You'll have to add the following 2 international ip addresses as local ip addresses, and then it will work:
cod2update.activision.com : 63.146.121.11
cod4master.activision.com : 63.146.124.21

thanks so much stone cold that ip fixed me right up. I have no problems with it now!!!

Ok im running a split adsl connection. Local and international. How can i make my COD4 work it also gives me the same issues. Awaiting Key Code Authentication.

I've had this problem too but it seems to happen 'now and again'

What I do is, connect only with my local account and play, or connect ONLY with my INT account and play.

Like last night, I played some COD4 but I left both connections on (with RouteSentry) and then was like... damn it, but then it worked... so I exited, tried again and it didn't work, I exited, disconnected my INT account and it worked.

Weird... but try it ;)

When I join with only my local account active it shows something like CD-key already in use, but when I join with my int account it joins and I can play.
Im going to try adding those ip's to my hosts file and see if that works. What did you mean of adding the int ip addresses as local ones? plz explain.

Program Files>Route Sentry
Open Localroutes.dat with notepad
and add these IP's to the list
63.146.121.11,255.255.255.255
63.146.121.12,255.255.255.252
63.146.121.16,255.255.255.240
63.146.121.32,255.255.255.224
63.146.121.64,255.255.255.192
63.146.121.128,255.255.255.128
63.146.122.0,255.255.254.0
63.146.124.0,255.255.255.240
63.146.124.16,255.255.255.252
63.146.124.20,255.255.255.254

And then cod4 works :P

63.146.121.12,255.255.255.252
63.146.121.16,255.255.255.240
63.146.121.32,255.255.255.224
63.146.121.64,255.255.255.192

If added 63.146.124.21: cod4master.activision.com to the list

No luck

I added to me Local host file (c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts)

63.146.124.21 cod4master.activision.com

No luck

I tried with local and inter national connection on/ international off only local on.

I added local saix game server ip in favorites in cod4

No luck. (server connection time out error on Key code authentication screen)

Can anyone help What i'm i missing? Is the problem with cybersmart Local?

Disconnect local account, and play ...cant have your bread buttered on both sides !

works every time !

It worked for me ... thanks guys!!

I had to direct the following addresses through the local account:
IP: 63.146.0.0
Subnet: 255.255.0.0

Ok WTF changed? I have used my splitting for the last 2 years now it doesnt work? Why would that be. As im using my WRT54gl to splitt my traffic and why is it that its only IS local that gives the problem. If i use 2 Saix accounts i dont have that problem? Oh and Vince12 ur most usefull with your input, thanks.

Update punkbuster. Connect to local only(no route sentry required) and it will work fine.
