Know you're on the case and appreciate it. One weird thing I'm not sure anyone else is experiencing is that this routing feels "snappier" in general for browsing, streaming and even gaming, even with the increased latencies. I've noted it before when we've been switched over the failover...

217.147.89.101 is the Apex London login server for example, 200ms at the moment up from 144ms.

~184ms is now the BEST I can achieve to London. Most London locations are around 200ms at the moment.

The irony is that latencies to other parts of Europe (Frankfurt, Amsterdam) are actually improving as I'd been hoping for for quite some time, but London etc. are getting progressively worse.

Feel like I'm being ignored. Am I the only one in CPT with high pings? 180ms+ to locations that were previously ~140ms.

Any update @websquadza ? I literally do not have a single result to EU lower than 180ms at the moment?

These both used to be 144ms: (latter one is speedtest.coreix.net) |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host -...

@websquadza any ETA on EU pings returning to normal? I've given up on asking when the fabled alternate routes are going to be implemented :)

Ah I see we're on the failover routing again, that explains it.

This is.. a bizarre set of results @websquadza ?

Worth noting also that both your router and the machine/device you're testing from need adequate CPU resources to hit gigabit speeds. If they don't, or you're multitasking with some heavy CPU usage in the background you'll see large fluctuations in your results and also likely not be able to...

No longer an issue for me personally, but if you ever find a good balance, I'd be tempted to upgrade back up to 1gbps :)

Exact same scenario I had, exact same speed thresholds.

Ran into it pretty much any time I forgot to put a bandwidth limit on when downloading over NNTP while I was on 1gbps. Pretty much the reason I downgraded back to 200mbps. Octotel packet loss + NNTP protocol = way too many packets for the DDoS protection. I guess so is rsync.

All good, back to normal today.
