Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Is something up with international? My ping in Apex is 220ms...
Welcome to Apex... AWS transit is beyond trash.. I've asked PBCool to make me a VPN in Frankfurt to avoid AWS as far as possible as I can. My normal ping from CT 220ms while using the VPN last night I was getting 155 to 160 in the 2 or 3 games I played

Must be nice :crying:

But it's been 180-200ms for many months, now today suddenly it's 250ms in-game. Completely unplayable..

Did anyone else struggle with PPPoE connections yesterday on OpenServe?

Mine failed to connect, even after trying multiple routers and factory resets, then when it did, it kept dropping. Seems to have recovered now.

Just curious, did Afrihost try migrate to the new BNG's again on OpenServe?

Hi.

No, we did not migrate.
I will check your profile and investigate.

@Hummercellc, there is an area Network fault linked to your line.

Yip same here, OpenServe Fibre PMB down, and Afrihost Fixed LTE (on Vodacom Network).

Afrihost services on the MTN network seem fine.

Looks like the NLD between PMB and Riverhorse is down affecting PMB and surrounding areas as well as Richards Bay via PMB to Riverhorse.

General question; why the buffering on all live YouTube videos? Can’t be YouTube because this is happening on different YouTube accounts.

So weird one, but hopefully this helps someone:

For anyone having issues with Twitch buffering on the Akamai CDN, touch wood I found something that works.

I changed my DNS from Afrihost's automatically allocated on to using 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 as a backup. Seems like this change means the same domain resolves to different IP ranges, so rather than the local Afrihost range 169.1.36.*, you get sent to servers that don't have this issue in the 2.20.13.*

Seems odd the afrihost dns is sending us to faulty servers but hey, at least for now this workaround works.
