Eskom failed.

Probably a silly question but I'm curious anyway

The Turbine powered plants can also run on other fuels and natural gas, but I've never seen it mentioned with all the fuel cost complaints.

I assume some minor retrofitting to the turbines would be needed to change fuels, but surely someone somewhere at Eskom will have calculated running cost on each of the fuels?

Or something.

If you ask Mr Fixfokkal, it will be in 6-12 months. /s

The phrase "united we stand, divided we fall" underscores the importance of unity and solidarity in overcoming adversity and achieving success. When we come together as a united front, our combined strengths and efforts can overcome even the greatest of challenges. However, when we are divided and lacking in unity, we are weakened and become vulnerable to defeat. In a world filled with obstacles and obstacles, it's crucial that we set aside our differences and work together towards a common goal. Whether it's a community, a nation, or the entire world, our future depends on our ability to stand together and support one another. Remember, united we stand, divided we fall.

The real question is do we fix our current situation by actually trying to fix it. OR we can all just be "keyboard warriors" And we get to slide deeper into what will be hell. No power, overpriced food and no financial security. Welcome back to the Stone Age.
You yourself was a bit of a keyboard warrior by demanding Eskom give people free solar installations.

It's other forumites who came along with better proposals, such as no tax, etc.

Nice, we need more of this.

The just need to add Molten-salt batteries so they can store electricity to use the times the sun does not shine.
Or you could use a mine battery in JHB, it's already built the land is cheap and it can store tons of power.

As far as the ANC regime "leadership" is concerned I don't think Eskom has failed at all. It has succeeded magnificently, making them, their friends, family and fellow travelers, rich beyond a normal person's wildest dreams. Thinking they are going to give up this golden goose without milking the last golden egg and bit of blood from it before it dies is just silly.

I do think your idea is a good one . But remember every deal the governing party does have kick backs ...so there in lies all their planning . You will see if they get this state of disaster through, it will be done as the monies from Covid disaster fund ..everyone will be claiming there profits.
We are screwed

All I realized is how stupid people really are. You can't solve anything, you cry about everything, and you think having a solar at your home solves your problems. Well, I got news for you, it doesn't. Because if people don't have work, you get anarchy. If people don't have food security, you get starvation. If you don't have infrastructure, then there is no safety at all. Guess who's shiny home looks a lot more shiny at night! Moths to the flame as Icarus ignored Daedalus. Your Ego is too big to listen to reason, it blinds you to the potential that a crowed sourced solution can have. The impact it will have. The value it will bestow.

But no all I want is a free solar system bla bla bla.

I am going to go outside, set up my little portable solar battery to charge, do some work smoke a few cigarettes and delight in the fact that as bad as our government is it is still not as bad as you lot. Imagine if all of you were in control...

All I can say to that is.

Thanks captain obvious. You don't think we have been trying this **** since we were your age?

The difference is, now you have the technology, and financial ability to do more. You have a voice, and people take you seriously. Remember, on social media there is an outcry now that didn't exist for a long time. You can go to the DA and actually be taken seriously.

So you can give-up or push this. Remember, you yourself matured and see things that I may not. You are still relevant. They can't even be bothered to facilitate me in trying to register to vote. I am that insignificant.

Home solar systems will never be supplied by the government. You have to understand that those systems require maintenance and upkeep as well. These systems are also ****en dangerous in the wrong hands and will be a severe fire hazard. This is irrespective of the political issue when it comes to who gets and who doesn’t.

But there is merit in the idea however it’s a bit larger scale. Large commercial buildings and their parkades can have business owners sign agreements with eskom to set up systems like this. The scale is bigger so maintenance staff requirements are lower. The question is though what will the contract agreement be and will NERSA back off for a second and have these business owners actually receive some form of benefit?

When you have been banging your head against the wall for 30 years, eventually you just need to stop because it starts hurting. I pass the flag to you.

Look, if businesses wants a continued existence they need to step up. This is not about free stuff, it is about using what little is left of existing infrastructure to try and stabilize base-power. This can be done, and it will cost money, but Eskom needs to give the insurances and companies need to do their own risk assessment. They need to then figure out who pays for what and who benefits and by how much. Create an incentive strategy that works for everyone.

But doing nothing means they are going to fail, because no business can function in a failed economy. So in short, their survival is connected to our survival. The same is true for Eskom and government. We all have a lot to lose, so it is time to really debate this, or this will end badly.

You’re not understanding. I’m talking about real estate for the grid itself.

It ended with you, like it or not, you had more opportunity that I will ever get in my life. It doesn't matter how hard we work, companies became allergic to training people because the boss really needed that new luxury car and bigger house.

To be clear, this is not a victim mentality we work fcking hard, and we can't even rent a place to live. Why? Because businesses made a choice to devaluate us so that they can benefit from cheap disposable labour to maximise their profits and minimize their responsibility.

Greed fcked us all. So when you walk past those big buildings, notice how many low level jobs there are and how little opportunity there is to work your way up. Look at entry level jobs and then look at the experience and education they want. 90% of them want an already trained and educated person. They do this to remove our ability to negotiate. They call it TEMP WORK so that we can't even hope for continued employment.

This is the system your generation created, the only difference is we get to call it our future. How fcking scary is that.
