I think all of us saw the report of the ships planning to produce and sell power to Eskom for the grid.

The question should be why is Eskom willing to hit the taxpayer, the Eskom customer and the municipal customer as hard as they possibly can?

Each time Eskom does something, it cost close to billions? Why are we not seeing a solar strategy? Eskom made it clear it will rather burn hundreds of millions of diesel then supplying homes with solar installations that will not only cost less, it will take pressure off the grid.

What are you doing, Eskom?

What is more important, Eskom or the country? I got news for you, Eskom, if malls close down, if businesses close down if homes can no longer afford the high cost of living. All is lost.

What then? At what point does Eskom do what is right for the country?

7.7 Billion rand is a lot of solar systems. Instead, you burned it all as diesel?

You want Eskom to buy you a solar system for your house?
For over 7 billion Rand, Eskom can supply over 64 thousand homes with solar. Now do the maths yourself. If each of those homes can generate 5Kw of power each. And we are talking about R120k systems, they will be able to produce power.

How do you propose those customers get billed, and who do they choose without starting riots? Do you know how little 64000 homes are?

The sun doesn't shine at night, SA needs a stable bassload. Diesel provides that unfortunately
Take housing of the grid so that industry can have base-load so that we can have jobs. The solution isn't perfect, but paying boats for power is better, how?

Taking homes off the grid means Eskom has power to sell cheaper to bigger customers. They have time to repair the power stations and restore function without having to pay external parties for power.

Not a response to my question.

Essentially, you want a free solar system and free electricity.

Is it not true that our grid is being setup so that solar homes can pump power back into the grid? Is that system not already being drafted? Why must I reinvent the wheel here? If 64 thousand homes pump power back into the grid, it will do a tiny bit more. So no one is getting those solar systems for free, the systems will provide for the grid. That is the current plan, is it not?

It is just 7+ Billion can make it happen a lot faster

What are you doing, Eskom?
Just like the ANC lead Government, they are no longer there to serve the public. The only motive is stealing as much money as possible while they can.

You and I mean absolutely nothing to them. The only time they suddenly pretend to "fix" things is around election time.

Look it is not a perfect solution, but it gives us breathing space does it not?
The problem is that you and I won't be the ones that get those systems. It will always be the poor and freeloaders first. You will still get loadshedding, those batteries will get stolen and resold for profit by the community being uplifted.

The alternative is you and I get it and KZN gets burned to the ground again.

Well 64000 homes give or take can provide 5Kwh give or take that is 64000 x 5000Wh = isn't worth anyone's time. Well welcome to hell then enjoy the ride.

It's a better investment than burning diesel, definitely, but who gets it? Someone will be unhappy and burn the place to the ground.
