I have yet to grow red sugar apples.
Only anonnas I have:
American paw paw (asimini triloba)
Anonna squamosa (Sugar apple)
Anonna cherimola and jette (cherimoya)
Anonna deliciosa (Rollinia)
Anonna reticulata - slight hint of red and orange... Came from madagascar.
That's awesome! How is the American paw paw taking to the SA climate? I've been thinking about getting some seeds, but wasn't sure if they would grow well down in the EC.

Nothing comes close to watermelon imo but it has to be crisp, pink, not too red and not too ripe.
I think I was too spoilt on the watermelon front while in Japan. I haven't found a watermelon locally that is even half as good. The sugar baby variety is ok, but difficult to find in my local stores and I've had mixed results trying to grow the Japanese varieties here :crying:

Avocado
Cling peaches
Plumbs
Nectarines
Soft skin citrus
Raspberries
Black berries
Litchi
The sweet dragon fruit varieties.

I just prefer the big oval ones you find in many local supermarkets but again, should definitely not be too red. Nasty stuff if they are.

Nothing like watermelon on a hot day. Any variety will do. Haven't been to Japan yet :(
