Stage 4 load-shedding implemented without notice

Eskom increased load-shedding to stage 4 on Friday afternoon without notice and will rotate between stage 2, stage 3, and stage 4 over the coming weekend.

In a statement on Friday afternoon, the utility said that unplanned breakdowns and capacity lost to planned maintenance had increased since its previous update.

The fact they said "increased to 15GW of breakdowns" says it all - since breakdowns were at 17GW not too long ago. So 15GW is really low for recent times.

Planned breakdowns are 2GW more so it's the same, in fact the increase is only 300MW from the previous update? So why an entire stage?

Stage 4 Loadshedding was implemented at 13:11 today due to a higher than anticipated demand experienced. This will continue until 05:00 on Saturday morning wherein the previously communicated schedule .

They updated on Twitter now
