Russia used its strategic stockpile of long-range, high-precision missiles to strike Ukraine, but continues to replenish its stockpile.

Source: Yurii Ihnat, Spokesperson of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on air of Freedom TV channel

Quote: "The enemy does not have enough high-precision long-range missiles. The strategic reserve of long-range and high-precision missiles, such as Kh-101 cruise missiles, Kalibr, as well as ballistic missiles Iskander-M, which the enemy had been using from the very beginning of the war for various purposes, has been [nearly – ed.] used up (not all of it. Because now [journalists] will say that I stated that the missiles are all spent. No.).

The enemy used the largest number of missiles (about 800) specifically for attacks on our infrastructure, the fuel, and the energy sector of Ukraine.

Thus, having some more stock, they will continue to accumulate [missiles – ed.]. But they are difficult to accumulate, they used to accumulate them for years, but this is how they were used ‘for booth transformers’."

Details: According to Ihnat, in this way, the Russians are looking for new methods of striking: in addition to rocket artillery, S-300s [anti-aircraft missiles, which Russians launch along a ballistic trajectory at ground targets in front-line zones – ed.] and aerial bombs are left behind.

Fu Cong, China’s Ambassador to the EU, said that statements about "no limits to friendship" between China and Russian are "nothing but rhetoric".

Source: The New York Times citing Fu Cong’s interview; RBC, citing the statement of Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation

Details: Fu Cong said China was not on Russia’s side in the war and that some people deliberately misinterpreted the declaration about ‘no limit friendship’ between China and Russia, signed on the eve of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to him, as quoted by the NYT, the ties between the countries may not be as limitless as their leaders once claimed.

"‘No limit’ is nothing but rhetoric," Fu Cong emphasised.

Beijing has not condemned the invasion, he said, because it understood Russia’s claims about a defensive war against NATO encroachment, and because his government believes "the root causes are more complicated" than Western leaders say.

Fu Cong insisted the lack of a call was of no great importance, that Mr. Xi was very busy, and that there were frequent lower-level contacts between the two countries.

"I know people are focused on the presidential call. The fact that President Xi is not speaking to Zelenskyy does not signify that China is on the side of Russia on the Ukrainian issue," Fu Cong added.

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, commenting on his words, said that the Kremlin was focused on the "content and spirit of the contacts" that took place between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in Moscow, and they "fully cover the entire range of issues that are on the joint agenda daytime".

Germany’s “deeply ashamed” vice-chancellor has told Volodymyr Zelensky he is sorry that Berlin took so long to send weapons to Ukraine.

Robert Habeck, who is Olaf Scholz’s deputy, made a surprise visit to Kyiv on Monday, where he made a grovelling face-to-face apology to the president of Ukraine.

The Green politician said the two men had met in 2021, before Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and that Mr Zelensky had explained the threat of war was real.

Mr Habeck said: “At that time we started the debate in Germany that we should support Ukraine with weapons.

“Germany was not willing or able to do that at that time. We have changed our position but it took too long and it was too late.”

'It was far too late'

Mr Habeck appeared to make a veiled criticism of Mr Scholz, Germany’s centre-Left chancellor, who has faced accusations of dithering over sending weapons to Kyiv.

“I think not all of the German politicians would say the same but I feel deeply ashamed. It was far too late,” he said in a sign of possible divides among the coalition.

That declaration. Whatever China's stated intent was. Played into a larger narrative when this war broke out. We all remember it. So many Russophiles. Not least here in Africa breathlessly celebrating Russia's victory with China to back them up. Some sort of Communist revival [sic]

And I don't care what they say. They knew it would. They've consistently put themselves exactly on the spot on the fence where it's exactly most comfortable for them. People aren't dumb. We know they aren't dumb. If China doesn't want to help to take the world forward for all humanity, and rather always defaults to base self-interest, then they mustn't expect any goodwill in exchange.

Anyone helping Russia would become an ‘accomplice’: France

French President Emmanuel Macron says that anyone helping the “aggressor”, Russia, in the Ukraine conflict would become an “accomplice”.
Speaking to journalists following his first speech in China after arriving for a three-day visit, Macron said, “We have decided since the beginning of the conflict to help the victim, and we have also made it very clear that anyone helping the aggressor would be an accomplice in breach of international law.”

I wonder if the SA government have heard that?
