Eskom announces stage 6 until further notice

Eskom has announced continuous stage 6 load-shedding after a generating unit broke down at Medupi power station.

This comes after the state-owned power utility steadily increased the intensity of power cuts yesterday.

History:

South Africa is going to stage 6 load-shedding

The City of Cape Town has announced that Eskom will increase load-shedding to stage 6 from 16:00 on Wednesday.

This comes after it maintained stage 5 load-shedding this morning instead of reducing rotational power cuts to stage 3 as initially planned.

It didn't take long for us to get back to stage 6 with the new bunch. If there isn't any sabotage then it may be the fact that we get no load shedding on certain priority days when maintenance should carry on regardless. These old stations will break down if pushed too hard.
 
Mydorpie.com announcing S6 as well now, but say they're waiting for confirmation.
 
Man, that sucks. If only there was some way to prevent this from happening.
