Indefinite stage 6 load-shedding after Koeberg unit trips

Not just solar. Economic down turn with businesses closing, people installing gas geysers, stoves etc.
Demand is on a downward trend and load shedding is still increasing.
Demand has actually been on a downward trend due to costs and efficiency increasing

I suppose it is municipality related

Where i live about 500m away from the water works ,i hear that generator every single load shedding

The traffic lights have battery backup on all the main routes now

Sewage pump stations have generators

To fit in the budget some of these are generators instead of battery/solar as first phase

With plans to lose the high cost of petrol in next phases

George

though being to close to any of the infrastructure they see as critical may interrupt your sleep and naturally the specialists aren't always specialists

ie one robot has either a balancing problem in the battery or a bat that has bad cells or incorrect charge rate setting

as it doesn't pull through as it should on stage 6

Aren't there water/draught issues there?

More towards pe

Though they do regularly announce restrictions

How exactly you do if the damn is 86% i don't know

maybe i am wrong but water restrictions go with more expensive rates for anything over 15KL so think it is more a money aspect

ie you get no letters or anything just a increase/fines on water bill not earth shattering

They did lift the dam recently

Ok. I was asking because some time ago I was speaking to friends who live in that area. They called it the green draught. It doesn't look like a draught, but water supply is slightly under pressure.

Yea i just checked and we are in water restrictions at the moment, it might also be related to the loadshedding

Remember notice a while ago where one of the reservoirs went too low thanks to a pipe fault/burst and getting the reservoir full again was hampered by load shedding
ie request for light use

Dam level 88.4%of new capacity currently

Rain wise i do think it is drier than normal, but like you say green drought

the area is expanding as the western cape is where everybody is going to get away from bad municipalities

You never notice the change if it is gradual

But after the lockdown the moment schools went back to full swing ie not just alternating days all had to drive on the same day it was like bam , also encountered more people that work remotely , really remote it seems

From a comment in DM that I thought was relevant to Eskom and the ANC looting and incompetence

"South Africa functions all too well for the vested interests of those who profit from its destruction.

When I was studying in the US, one of my favourite professors used to remind us regularly there is no such thing as a broken system. Whether it is an economic, political social or public sector system, what appears broken to you and me is in fact working perfectly for somebody who has a vested interest in maintaining a dysfunctional status quo. And they will usually do whatever it takes to maintain — even exacerbate — this brokenness."
