Removing abandoned car from private parking area

The rear tyre is flat. The steering is locked. All the the HA will do is write an email to owners. The chairman says it has nothing to do with him.

I spoke to Primceton Towing. They can come tomorrow but quote R2800 to take it to a scrapyard

I called the 021 596 number, They have no jurisdiction in private property
Lol, I would wait for the chairman to go out and then move it to his bay. Lol.

I have no idea who owner is. Metro Police says POPI act prevents them from finding it out. That was my second phone call in October. The one tyre is completely flat now
Lol, move it to someone else's parking bay. Sooner or later there is gonna be a moerse fight and the managing agents will have to get their hands dirty.

Surely someone who lives there knows whose car it is, has the tenant asked every residence?

This being private property, what does the rules say? It should be set out therein. The manner in which abandoned and parked properties are handled. Sure, there is a section on the conduct surrounding parking?

Ok, I have my best idea yet. Just put an advert on gumtree saying there is an abandoned car on your property and it is free for anyone to come and take it, so long as they can take it away.

I won't even be surprised that it is a trustee being abusive which could give reason to why the property management is ignoring your letter. I would insist on the rules, and look to remedy therein. In the case the vehicle is in your view, long, abandoned, then do report it to the police, but take it on the record.

Nothing quite like the vehicle’s owner randomly pitching up calling you out as having acted maliciously; hence you need to document your actions. The police can’t remove it, without reasonable cause, the vehicle being parked on private property, but reporting it could connect it to a possible crime.

Step 1: Do not damage the vehicle, otherwise it will be considered vandalism etc. (However justified)
Step 2: Make sure that all complaints/requests to the Body-Corporate are in writing
Step 3: Approach the Ombudsman if the BC is not acting

The BC should essentially send all the residents a notice requesting to come forward if it is theirs or their visitors, after a few of these, they can legally remove the vehicle.

The BC should then pay for the towing, and try to recover the cost, if not possible to recover, then just write it off as part of their mandate.

Doubt any of that would solve the problem. There are multiple illegally parked/abandoned cars in my complex and all they do is put stickers on the cars. Luckily they're in visitor spots. His best solution is to move the thing to some other spot to free up his tenant's space.

Yeah, the BC is not doing their job. All that is required is for one car to be made an example of, then quickly the cars disappear.

We had a similar issue years ago in my old complex, I was a trustee. We took advise from the Managing Agent, who drafted a legal letter to the owner, after many failed attempts, we got it towed (paid the tow truck) but then also billed the owner on his levy. Very soon afterwards he came out of the woodwork and demanded damages etc. Just threw the book at him, eventually he STFU.

If it were that easy, it would have been pushed out. It's behind a pillar and needs moving through 180 deg and then around the building
