It's basically Volvo or...Volvo.

Or buy a Toyota Rush and drop it a by a few inches:ROFL:

Nice one Paul!

For sale: Paul Newman’s modified 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo estate

Silver screen icon and notable petrolhead was the first owner of this V6-engined wagon

Paul Newman was so enamoured with his new Volvo 740 Turbo he bought in 1988, he… immediately swapped out the 2.0-litre turbo lump and replaced it with a V6.

A Buick Grand National 3.8-litre turbo V6, to be precise, installed by a company in Alabama back in ’88, along with a gearbox swap for a Borg-Warner five-speed manual. Also an ‘Aero’ style bodykit, too.

Newman of course, was a racing driver who dabbled in the movies, and annoyingly was really quite good at both. That he chose the absolute quintessential, postcard Volvo – a big, Eighties block of safety and reliability – just makes it even better.

The current owner – who bought the car in 2017 – treated the 740 to a new clutch assembly, fuel pump and even injectors, while all the lights, wipers and tailgate struts were replaced too. At some point the chassis was modified, with lowered springs matched to Bilstein struts, a limited slip diff, sway bars and better brakes.

Indeed lets see how it turns out, as this purchase got quite a bit more intersting all of sudden after running the VIN.

All the websites are showing this as 2.0HDI, where this was listed as 1.6HDI none station wagon, where this is clearly a station wagon.
The engine cover is also the one from the 2.0HDI.

The SW was only sold as 1.6 petrol in SA.
2.0HDI was only available in hatchback later on, but never in SW form.
Insurance also no option for 2.0HDI wagon, only 1.6 petrol.

Final thing that caught my eye was the speedo being in miles on the outside band and KM in the inside. All the other 308 only show in km.
So i have feeling this was imported into SA or a special purchase for a client.

Really excited to get it, I should hopefully have it Monday as the car is luckily in cpt.

Interesting, yup the SW was only offered here with the 1.6 N/A. Based on the diff motor & the MPH on the outside band points highly likely to it being a UK import.

What was the price if I can ask?
