How did you upgrade? Process and requirements please.

25th March: Sent an email to [email protected] requesting the upgrade.
25th March: They asked for my payslip. Just sent the most recent one.

26th March: Upgrade occured, existing Gold card was blocked.

30th March: Black Card ready for collection.

Very efficient overall. Considering its R10/month difference between the accounts, its a no-brainer.

EDIT: Requirements...

The minimum income requirement for the Woolworths Black Credit card is R500, 000 per annum.

In order for us to process an upgrade to a Woolworths Black Credit Card, kindly forward your latest one month salary slips or latest one month bank statements if you are self-employed.

I’ve just got my new “cash back voucher”. I used to be able to buy gift cards with it but today they said the policy has changed and we can no longer buy gift cards. Do any of you clever folk have a work-around (I used to use the gift cards to pay for my unhealthy food so discovery didn’t pick it up…)

Just use the cash back through the app on a separate purchase, discovery wont know about it either

I have completed the journey to black. I forgot to take into account the immediate blocking of my existing Gold card, so had some fun juggling money to my Tyme Bank account for online purchases and swipes while I waited for the new Black card to arrive as I like to keep my main, salary bank account super clean for future bank statement requests etc (I like to live like a ghost).

Anyway, sent the email on Wednesday 8 April and responded to their payslip request a few hours later. Upgrade was approved the same day and my Gold card blocked.

DSV delivered my new card to my local Woolies store this morning, 13 April and I collected it and endured the hardline call to the call centre to activate my card - I wonder why they force us to do that when the documentation in the card envelope says we can activate through the WW App?!

Anyways, my pin was set to the same pin that I had on the old Gold card and I bought something from Woolies to test - it wouldn't tap for the first transaction so I inserted and used the pin.

All good.

1) The 2 free coffees per month: Are they issued on the first of the month and inside the vouchers tab in the app?
2) Are the free coffees for take away only from the coffee counter or can you redeem during a sit down meal inside a W Cafe?

might not be able to mix with a meal, they cant redeem both vouchers at the same time. last few times they had to do a specific redeem for each coffee.

That immediate blocking is BS. That shows how sh-t WFS really is. It is after all run by ABSA.

Your card should work and should not be blocked until you have your new card. And it's funny because when I upgraded a card at ABSA, the previous card continued to work and they couldn't cancel it bc it had some recurring charge with Patreon or Patronite or some other service.

If you've received your rewards statement for the December 2025 - March 2026 period, I urge you to double check it against your card statements for the same period. My statement's figure for February was very obviously wrong because the total reflected for non-WW spend was lower than my largest single transaction in February. That led me to check their totals against my statements. The December total was perfect, but January, February & March were all wrong. I worked out that they haven't counted any of my transactions with a processing (not transaction) date from 31 Jan to 12 Feb (inclusive) as well as those with a processing date of 31 March or later. I've checked with two others who've confirmed a similar problem, so I'm guessing it's either widespread or universal.

The end-of-quarter transactions are probably to be expected if they wanted cash back to available at the start of April (I had some transactions from 31 March only processed on 2 April) and those will probably show up as a balance brought forward in the next quarter, but the missing transactions from 31 Jan to 12 Feb are more concerning, so I'll be raising a query with WFS.

Has anyone here actually won anything worth mentioning on their spin game?

In December i won a voucher for the full value of a speaker (think it was sony) valued at R1,200. Want to know the fun part. Could not be ordered online. I checked instore stock in an hour radius of me in KZN then i had also visited Port elizabeth (1 store) and sommerset west (3 stores). All not in stock. 2nd best value prize i have got was a R100 cashback. Everything else has been a mass of fashion vouchers (R25 off if spend R300 etc) which are worthless to me.

Has anyone obtained a secondary card for minor children? I am trying to request one, but Woolworths says I need to forward an ID document. Birth certificates are not acceptable. The problem, obviously, is you cannot get an ID document until you are 16.

Nope, It must be an ID document. They confirmed in a subsequent email that secondary card holders must be 18 as well, so it's kind of pointless.
