DStv for R99 per month

DStv's Access package offers nearly 100 linear local and international channels and hours of on-demand content for the same price at which it launched 16 years ago.

DStv Access slots in between the basic R30 EasyView plan and the R339 Family package. Alongside those packages, it is part of DStv's largest segment — the Mass Market.

Thanks for the feedback. I am newly on fibre, and saw this as one of the special offers. Are any of the bundles worthwhile?
Nope.. It's a matter of comparing which package offers the highest percentage of quality channels with stuff you want to watch vs how much you are wanting to spend on it..

But that's not all!!!!

You get to see the same k@k adverts every 8min
You get to see the same programs every second day
You get access to 95 linear channels of k@k
And you get to see this even on clear days:-

As of May 2026, Access had 89 video channels — over three times more than when it launched...

A lot of those are cheap or free elsewhere channels
But not bad now if comparing to the likes of OpenView, Freevision etc.

...It also boasted over 80 radio and audio stations, around double the size of its launch selection.

Cheapest EasyView package also gets all of those. Most expensive Premium package also only gets all of those. 🤷‍♂️

Much ado about nothing. Add DECENT sport channels to this and maybe.

For R99 p/m? How?
Maybe (if their hand was somehow forced) they could include some live local rugby / cricket.

They did add Supersport Variety 4 and the primary OTT streaming sports channel - they at least have a variety of some delayed / repeat games on them, plus the main ESPN channel a while back.

Would I subscribe to Access? I did for a few months when it suited my needs (now back on EasyView).

If they did rugby AND cricket in a focused sports package, can't see it ever being under the R400 to R600 range. The Rand is weak.
When they (previous management) showed a possible modular plan for packages on this forum a few years ago, discounted rugby and cricket were separated anyway.

Local and African soccer will probable be more popular

Ja/Nee - most of DStv's success story is based on original broad-western-based-culture in S.A. adopting their offerings. (Football is more of a focused European thing.)
It then spread to Africa, but surprisingly didn't need to change much... for instance, all the top sports interests are mirrored in their choice of sports channels too.

But for sure, soccer is very popular with African Black groups.

Streaming services will have much more and better quality content.

Compared to the Access package, for sure. But if Premium starts improving their movies / series again enough (and there have been improvements of late) , then maybe not - have you seen how much kak is also offered on Netflix these days?
