On the Sportytv interview with the coach he seems chilled. Said bafana bafana attacked well and had Mexico under pressure at times. Lol did we watch the same game as him? :laugh:

He kinda has to say that.

The options is be positive and try and build to something in the next games.
Or be harsh and try and build.

There's legitimately an attitude in SA soccer that we aren't good enough and don't have the talent to compete at this stage and we are just there to make up the numbers. Then you might as well not take stuff too seriously and just have fun.
 
Bafana could not string more than 3 passes together. I don't think Mexico played well either and judging by how the other game in the group went, we need more than a prayer to get into the knock out rounds.
 
I will also note that the famous image from the Brazilian World Cup may have a challenger.
 
So I don't do soccer. Did not even watch the game. But after a chat this AM with a colleague who is a big fan the main points I got were this:
Our coach is treating this like a side gig. He is not really into it
The coach played 3 players who were not part of the main squad for the entire season. Cohesion was as a result low
The coach put in one of the most defensive formations we have ever played showing low confidence in his own team. With that formation you are playing for a draw
Some of the best players were on the bench.
A win was possible yesterday with how poorly Mexico was playing, it just would have taken better leadership over the team.
Coach needs to go.

Again, not my views, but there seemed to be some justification to the above from how he described the game. Anyways, that was our best shot at a win in this WC and its gone.

I called this in Afcon already. The coach has a loser mentality. He doesn't believe we are good enough so he plays defensively to not lose and to draw.

We did good in the qualifying when we played more attacking, but against shít teams so there was some believe

This is why his comments makes sense. Only losing 2-0 and not 5-0 is probably an achievement or a close game in his mind.

The rest of SA just want them to play good positive soccer.
 
We are in one of the easiest groups in this WC and I honestly wonder if we will win a single game.
 
Watched the game last night and have to say, the players seemed very nervous and unsure with ball possession. When Williams passed the ball straight up the middle to put our defense under pressure, I was shouting so loud that Mex sommer scored! We were our own worst enemy when it came to silly mistakes.

I hope they shook some nerves loose and proves to the world why they are there! We have good enough players, they just need the confidence to play their full potential methinks.
 
That was the worst performance from us I have ever seen in a WC. Just so disappointing. Also disappointing to see on socials how the whole rest of Africa is against us and every comment is some xenophobia thing.

I disagree, its one of the more competitive groups in the tournament. All the teams in our group are ranked much higher than us, and quite frankly, are much better than us.
 
Thought maybe being in the Northern Hemisphere messed with their equilibrium as they kept playing to their own Goal Box whenever they had ball possesion. 😁

As crap as SA played, Mexico should be equally embarrassed by that performance.
