Fifa World Cup 2026

We should really have won this game. Now it all comes down to beating South Korea and those guys don't mess around. Unless the soccer gods favour us and we somehow sneak into the next round via the best 3rd placed team ruling.

Just 3 points is all we needed to secure the third place thing, we really let ourselves down considering we managed 4 points in the past two World Cups we were in.

I took a nice bet on Sa to win or draw, might double down on the Korea game as they may play for a draw.
Yeah, double chance is worth a shout, but the guy who lost clearly only went for a win. If you're gonna bet, don't go full retard.

Still won't go through because you have to be one of the best 3rd placed teams.

It's 8 from 12 teams who are third placed, 4 points would almost certainly do it.
Don't forget to factor in GD. We're currently sitting on -1. So, would need to not concede against SK, and beat them by a few goals at least. The way we're playing, neither will happen.

Thinking about it, and I don't really see SA beating SK, but if they did they would be second on 4 points so straight through anyway because Czechia will not beat Mexico. Either way, SA are not finishing 3rd on 4 points, they'll be third on 2 points if they draw and 1 point if they lose. So the only way to qualify is to beat SK to finish second.

Mexico 9
Bafana 4
S Korea 3
Czechia 1

We are sitting on -2 goal difference, win we should go through draw there is a very slim chance but we probably going home. Really should have pushed more for that final goal and bought on more attacking options in the last 10 minutes...

Statistical Chance of Advancing as a Best 3rdOpta’s supercomputer ran 100,000+ simulations of the tournament (after the first round of matches). Key findings for third-placed teams:
  • 5–6 points: 100% chance of advancing as one of the best 8 thirds.
  • 4 points: ~99.8% chance.
  • 3 points: ~66.8% chance (heavily depends on goal difference; positive GD is almost always enough, while negative GD drops it significantly).
  • 2 points: Only ~4.66% chance.
  • 1 point or fewer: Essentially 0%.
A draw puts South Africa on 2 points as a likely 3rd-placed team. This is generally too low to rank among the top 8 thirds across all groups, as most qualifying thirds are expected to have 3+ points (often with decent goal differences). Even with a favorable goal difference in the draw, the probability stays very low (under 5-10% at best).

USA vs Australia is a pretty important game.

Australia is solid and how the USA performs against them would be a good indicator of how good the are.

USA 3 - 1

Why doesn't Erling Haarland play for the UK? He has dual passports for England and Norway

Firstly, the UK doesn’t have a football team…
Secondly, he doesn’t play for England because he chose to represent Norway.

Then what do you call the team playing in the Fifa world cup? England national football team.

Yes.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own national football teams.

To answer the Haaland question; he is only English because he was born there. Both of his parents are Norwegian. His dad is also a former footballer who represented Norway at international level as well. His mother is a former Norwegian national athletics champion. Haaland is a full-blooded Norwegian.
