I know about English made ones. Even the SA made shoes used to to retail R3000 plus a pair.

The SA factory was in Epping. I know this as I had family members who used to work there. My mom even worked there for a short stint.

I googled and see they now in Elsies, I wonder if they merged with Jordan shoes who also made bronx shoes.

I got some similar looking Doc-ish riding boots from an Indian company called Trip Machine. Good thick leather, steel shank, etc

He he, very much doubt I will, these are the quintessential chef shoes and I plan to use them in the same way around the house instead of slippers that are always just too damn hot for me.

White wasn't my first choice but you take what you get on special.

They are ridiculously comfortable with the fancy Birkenstock sole inside...I probably should be one size down but then I feel the shaped sole will be too small again and I'm unfortunately always just one of those in between sizes people even using Euro sizing.

Yeah I'm still on the journey of finding the perfect shoe, but risked it on some Birkenstock's on special some time last year but they are the waterproof ones in the fake plastic vibes which I knew up front so not the full experience but did do enough of a job to have me watch the mailing lists.

I hate **** between my toes and don't particularly love flops that don't hook around the heel so I keep missing out on the sizing for the styles I like in the full on cork sole and proper oiled leather but then as someone who spends hours in the kitchen and knowing these "professional" ones are the gold standard I figured I would give it a go.

It was either red or white...now I kind of wish I went red. :ROFL:

It is NOTHING like the shitty Crocs I've also tried before, entire worlds apart as much as I think most people will think they are the same thing.

I don't know what magic is going on here, and maybe it will change in summer but they feel perfectly breathable so far and I don't have sweaty feet or anything.

Adidas clogs fit the same purpose for me. Love them to the point that I want to buy a spare set just incase they get discontinued.

Yeah go **** around in the garden even and just throw them in the washing machine and they come out brand new.
 
Looking for suggestions on a travel shoe. Need a one shoe to do it all. Airport walking, walking on dusty rocky sites. Want something that goes well with jeans, but is comfortable and doesn't dirty easily.

And no I am not buying Salamons, or some form of hiking ugly ass shoe. I don't wear running or dad shoes casually (running shoes are for running).

I bought a pair of black denim Adidas Campus 00s. Ticks most of the boxes, but feel like I might be better off with something a little comfier for long walking days. Did my last trip in black suede Adidas Gazelles. They are filthy after a week long trip to the DRC. Weren't terribly uncomfortable, but not the best. They are at end of life which is why I took suede to the filthy environment.

I wear safety boots during the day on site, so the sneaker is for evenings and travel
