I’m not the moeri n cos we lost, I’m the moer in because the coach decided to revert back to what we saw in the first game.

Also, we’re really not good enough technically (poor ball control and passing) but the neither is Canada - had we attacked like we did against Korea then we win (to be smashed in the next round by a technically superior team).

They were definitely not trying to win. I don't know how that even works
 
Our two central defenders are 20 and 22 both signed by international clubs, midfield is ok but we need another key playmaker and then Foster to find form or another player in Europe who can bring some fire power. Sucks we lost but signs are posotives now we just need to appoint the right coach to takeover.

Also like the Ref didn't blow the game to death or go on a card spree.

I'm so disappointed actually. We could have won this game but they just like you say break then suddenly think ohh no let me play the ball back and 3 passes the ball is at Williams again.

At least they are trying. They are choking in semifinals and finals, but they do something to get there. You can't fault that.

The Bafana team genuinely is so poor. So many poor passes and bad touches. There was a few counter attack opportunities where you just needed a better touch to have a chance on goal. The two midfielders must be some of the worst in the competition. Midfielders that cannot pass a football accurately 10m. How can midfielders at international level not pass a ball? They did well and over performed relative to their talent level. It’s expecting too much of them to reach the RO16.

One goal in open play from 4 games.
 
The afcon we came 3rd we would have scored from the counters we had tonight..but we seem clueless once we near the box even when we have numbers.

Pitso, truth be told, Broos is his own worst enemy, he might have got us to where we have never been before but his stubbornness was never a good ingredient to get the team beyond that.
 
Oh well, at least it's done. That whole "pass to Williams and let him hold onto it" tactic needs to die.

Some absolutely brilliant defensive work, but just like in any sport if you keep defending sooner or later the other team will get through.

Canada showed more attacking spirit, and it was rewarded at the best possible time for them.

I won't say this team was an embarrassment like one which faced Mexico at the start, but we need some more star players to deliver magic.

Here's to the next World Cup I guess, let's see where we are then.

I would have felt better if they had good attacks constantly pressing Canada and actually had shots on target and then lost because then I can say they tried.

You can't go on the field with a defensive mindset like that because how are you going to win if you don't attack?

indeed, seems we played a defensive game from the outset - could be my imagination.

from my schooldays long gone by, i played:
waterpolo
rugby (as we all had to do)
soccer
and swimming.

with the exception of rugby, i was always in the 1st team - but, this does not mean i was some great athlete or sportsman, - i wasn't, but instead, only marginally better than my contenders.

be that as it may - it was always drummed into us "you play to win".
it was never a case of playing for the sake of the game, but for one reason only - play to win - defensive play was never a consideration.
we would enter any contest with aggression & hostility from the outset, and for better or worse, gained a reputation for this.
that same reputation seemed to perhaps have a psychological impact on opposing teams we played against

yip, I think both teams wouldn't have made it past the next round.

That said - Morocco has a chance against Netherlands and we won the last two games against Morocco.

So we were in with a chance but we just don't have that magic.
