eHomeAffairs - getting it to work for you

So been 4 months since I requested a new ID. No SMS no nothing. Is there anywhere on the website I can check for a status because last time I went to the branch they said I should wait for the SMS
Interesting. I haven't heard about mine either but it's only been about 3 weeks and was told 4-6 weeks.

My passport was ready in a week though.

I got an SMS yesterday and went to pick mine up. Did you come right?

Applied 17th July so less than 4 weeks, not bad.
Yep!

Ended up just rocking up. Spent my lunch break there and collected. No answer as too why there was no SMS but yeah. As long as I have it sorted, won't need to do this adventure again thankfully.

The Home Affairs website has a forgot password option, have you tried that?

If you cannot remember or don't have access to any of the contact details you originally used I suspect you'll have to visit a HA branch in person (for obvious security reasons).

Renewed the laaities passport using the ABSA branch in Stellenbosch. The whole process went very smooth, spend less than 15 minutes waiting and maybe another 10 minutes for paper work. 3 weeks later it was ready to be collected. A thumbs up for DHA on that one.
I know it's been more than a year. But did they ask you for your application confirmation letter? Got an appointment on Friday but the DHA website won't let me log in with the OTP that they send. Just want to know if the confirmation letter is necessary .

It's not necessary. When you get there a person with a clipboard will ask you for your ID number and then they will check their little list on the clipboard and check that you have an appointment.

Getting this error: No Passport application can be captured - Applicant has an open application.

Anyone know a work around?

I think you can either wait 90 days for the current application to lapse or phone them to cancel it.

I remember a few years back I was met with the same message. But I had no open application. When I phoned them I was told that I have an uncollected passport at the Paarl office. That passport I had collected in 2015 when they let me know it was there. I had to phone the Paarl branch to get them to clear the flag on the system.

Lol and here I thought it was a walk in and out with smartid card process at nearest bank. In comparison my temp drivers and divers process was completed in about 20 minutes at gautrain centurion station yesterday.

So now the RNG game at 6am starts. *shrugs*

I had an appointment at FNB Greenpoint on 17 April for both ID and passport, and received a notification on the 28th to inform me that I can collect both. What a nice little surprise!

Hi all,

I was trying to renew my passport and was struggling to pay with Nedbank prior to making a booking online, the following solved the issue for me:

Bank Profile Number: Use the profile number you can find from your profile on the Nedbank online banking portal

Bank User ID: This must be either 1 or 01 (??????????????? don't ask why). I used 1 and it reflected immedietely under government payments in Nedbank's online banking portal. The lady I spoke to at Nedbank told me to use 01 if 1 didn't work.

Hope this helps someone else running the gauntlet that is Home Affairs

This helped me today, entered 1 and it worked!
Thanks!

For those struggling with the 'Confirmation Letter' download, I managed to find this hack which worked for me, I could not find this letter or a link to it anywhere on the website.

Sad that we need to do these things:

Log on to your DHA profile and go to your 'Application Workpage'
your website path will look something like this, with a token as a 7 digit number
token=XXXXXXX

now in another window use this link, and change the token number to the one above from the Workpage link
token=XXXXXXX

I used Edge and changed the defaults to download PDFs instead of opening and displaying in the browser, the PDF file BookingConfirmation.pdf was in my Downloads folder, which I was able to open and print.

I hope this helps you!

Got excited for some form of workaround just to get the confirmation letter, however still got this 🫩🫠
