Many enjoy his movies, many don't.

Another very popular director whose movies I absolutely hate is Wes Anderson. Probably the two most overrated (imo) directors I can think of.

Did they? Or did the media just overblow things? Like saying Elliot was going to be Achilles
 
Not sure I could take Holland or Paige seriously in a warrior-type role.

Even Orlando Bloom looked out of place as a warrior in Troy in my opinion. He was totally out of his depth in that sort of role when you had the likes of Bana amd Pitt and even Brian Cox, Brendan Gleeson and Sean Bean as grizzled veterans. Bloom worked as an elf in LoTR, not as a swords and sandals warrior. I couldn't even take Bloom seriously as the captain of the Flying Dutchman in Pirates. For similar reasons, Holland works as a teenage superhero in Spiderman and Paige, well, yeah. Being trans doesn't bother me, I just can't look at him and see a warrior, he's about as intimidating as Holland. They both just seem miscast.

I'll end up watching it when it hits the high seas.

But wasn't that the point of his character, that he wasn't some grizzled veteran, that he was the younger, pampered prince? I think he was pretty well cast for the type of character that he was playing (brash but with no real combat experience). He wasn't supposed to be the kind of warrior that Hector and Achilles were.

Fair enough. I rescind my comment on Bloom, he would have then been accurately cast.

He still irritated me though...

she is literally one of the top actors used in the press tour to promote Odyssey.

Press = media... More for them and for the publicity of the movie, I mean hell Elliot Page is also on the press tour, but they also only have a smallish role.
Drew Barrymore was featured heavily in the Scream press tours, she's the first to die in the first 5 minutes, Steven Seagal in Executive Decision, Channing Tatum G.I Joe Retaliation, sometimes they'll just use big names, even if they're in it for a few minutes.
