Rain launches LoopPhone with unlimited data

Strictly speaking, no, LoopDL is not officially owned by Rain.

Rain officially describes LoopDL as its “product and design partner.” They operate as separate entities that collaborate very closely on hardware and software ecosystem developments.
Search on the directors says otherwise. The info is at home on my computer there.

Seems to actually be the case, yes.

"LoopDL was founded and is owned by Brandon Leigh, who is also the Founder and Group CEO of Rain. Because Brandon Leigh heads up both companies, the lines between LoopDL and Rain are heavily blurred.

Legally, LoopDL operates as an independent UK-based product design and software engineering outfit. However, because of this shared leadership, it functions almost entirely as an in-house innovation lab and exclusive technology provider for Rain.

Essentially, it is a separate business entity on paper, but it is owned and run by the exact same mastermind driving Rain's ecosystem."

I see it has a built-in 7000mAh silicon-anode battery. I wonder how soon will it start swelling from frequent charging.

This is a really good idea as I am interested after being frustrated with fibre speeds over the last two days. I'm getting about 5 Mbps in prime time and the situation still hasn't been resolved.

I would really appreciate a review of this product such as real world speeds, what they really mean by "uncapped" and prime time performance. Do Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni count as the same city or is a provincial subscription required?

What fibre, ISP and location?

Terribly expensive for limited connectivity on a mobile device.

I will consider this instead of the rain option, or am I missing something?

Those exact display specifications belong to the Vivo Y500 4G.

Vivo outfitted this device with a highly premium panel for its class, featuring:

  • Resolution: $1260 \times 2800$ pixels (often referred to as a 1.5K display)
  • Pixel Density: 449 ppi
  • Brightness: An intense 5000 nits peak brightness
  • Color Coverage: $\ge 99\%$ NTSC color gamut
(Note: The same underlying 6.83-inch panel configuration is also utilized by Vivo's sibling brand for the iQOO Z11, though that variant pushes the refresh rate up to 144Hz, and it forms the basis for Rain's customized LoopPhone available locally here in South Africa).

The way Alibaba can be a 'product and design partner' when one buys unbranded devices and slaps one's logo on them? :)
