Thanks! Yeah, after some fiddling here and there I managed to print a calibration cube that didn't look too bad. My son has taken it for himself though as he thinks it's Lego :ROFL:

On topic: Anyone here found a **easy** application to modify existing Thingiverse open source files ?
I want to tinker with printing an enclosure for a Meshtasic device with a odd-shaped battery.

Yes, yes it is.

This is my list of hints for myself to remember each time:

1. New project
2. Import stl
3. go to part workbench
4. select body -> part -> create shape from mesh -> select sew shape -> ok
5. hide initial body
6. select body -> part -> create copy -> refine shape
7. hide previous body
8. part -> convert to solid
9. go to part design, create new body icon on toolbar
10. click basefeature
11. select the face
12. create sketch
13. then pad and extrude and sketch etc

I do recommend this below video, because it shows you it is...

I picked up some PLA after chipping my carborundum glass trying to wrestle a PETG print off the bed this morning. Muuuuuch easier to remove now, and no release agent needed as it just plops off. A spring steel sheet is on my wishlist though.

I am trying to get some prints under my belt for the experience points, so I printed this small turtle box (not to be confused with a box turtle) for my son:

I currently have an 18+ hour print going for the wife, some or other character from one of her books. It's the first print I am doing with supports aside from the turtle's lid, so that is going to be an interesting one.
 
Not sure if this has been shared, but NASA has a free database with models for various things, including rover kits and satellites, etc. I am sure some people here will enjoy it. Just select the 3d printable filter on the left

Final assembly day is here after almost two weeks of printing.
While I already have a Tyrannosaur in my collection, the previous print was based off a museum model scan.

I decided to buy an actual professional paleo artist sculpted Rex since with most Museum specimens you get issues with bones being flattened over time and proportions etc. not being perfect. I also don't want to paint it and keep it white since the contrast with white skeletons in my dark bar area works the best.

It's going to be MyBB™ levels of massive.
Just under 1.2 meters long and took just over 1KG of filament with 10% infill.
As you can see on the plates, this is about as big as I can go without some gnarly splicing.

It's fully printed in PETG and that made it by far the easiest print I've had, not a single object print failed on me.
I swear, PETG on a standard Bambu textured plate is magic.

And of course, in the most stereotypical Tyrannosaur printing blunder thing I could do, I forgot to print the arms.

Pulled out the nozzle on the work K1 Max but turns out its been changed from standard to the below (left nozzle) :

So I had to try unclogging the current nozzle instead as someone wants to print urgently.

So I tried heating up the nozzle and poker manually using a stove.

After reinstalling I am getting the following error:

Well, this is going to be fun....
It's time to up the game a bit and finally do a Sauropod print. But, I refuse to downscale it compared to the Rex, Allosaurs etc. I've already printed since the scale of the animals are now more or less accurate.

That means, as we say in Afrikaans, ek het nou 'n lat vir my gat gepluk.
Diplodocus Longii as far as Sauropods go isn't even that big of a species, however, to keep the scale we're now looking at a 2.3 Meter long print.

This is what the thing needs to look like compared to the scale of my build plate, almost the length of ten build plates.
My poor little Dell MiniPC is currently k@kking itself, if you're in JHB North and you feel a heatwave passing by, that'll be me doing some Saturday slicing.

I find this image on Wikipedia that shows the scale and center of mass for the actual animal hilarious.
Kudos to the person who added that random tree leaf grabbing Springbok-for-scale.

EDIT:
37CM in, plate #1 of many.
The fact that the head on a 2.3 Meter long scaled animal is the size of an acorn is one of the reasons I'm so addicted to the Dino prints and posts I keep spamming this thread with, it's like having a permanent Christmas tree of goodies you get to "unwrap" and assemble towards something that only a singly guy would be allowed to keep in any kind of visible state.

No-one's ever going to watch this, but the morphology around Sauropods is mind blowing, even when you just scratch the surface.

Have you checked the thermistor wire?

I had the same problem with my Ender and I had to replace the thermistor.

3 hour print, came out pretty nice. Some of the pegs are a little loose in the holes, though. Currently searching for prestik.
