Koeberg radiation contamination events caused by dislodged plug and burnt-out cord

Eskom has revealed that two recent radiation contamination incidents at Koeberg nuclear power plant were caused by a dislodged plug and a burnt-out electrical cord on portable ventilation units.

In the past week, the power utility confirmed it detected elevated radiation levels during three scheduled steam generator maintenance rounds at Koeberg Unit 2.

Shocking news!

Trust in Eishkom (ANC) to do nuclear

These dumb idiots should not talk about things that they don't know. I couldn't believe when I heard this on SABC news:
Eskom chairman Mteto Nyati also reiterated that no radiation leaked from the plant and the incidents presented no danger to the public or workers at the plant.

“The recorded levels were extremely low, less than radiation exposure from using your cellphone for several minutes,” he said.

Its just a little bit of radiation. Everybody just calm down

True, but why respond to a minor issue with a false analogy. It doesn't inspire confidence. Rather use the 'banana' unit:

Actually, by that standard, 200 bananas could have serious digestive side effects...

Bullshit, since when does a power cord, burnt or not, leak radioactivity? The leak is from somewhere else and the power cord is just an 30%er ANC type of under carpet brushing of the real reason.

I am worried about this statement.
“The recorded levels were extremely low, less than radiation exposure from using your cellphone for several minutes,” he said.
RF radiation is not the same as gamma radiation, not even close.
The latter is ionizing radiation.
So we have muppets in charge of that nuclear installation. That should worry everyone
