SARS eFiling 2025/2026

Probably got a lot of people submitting early.
Anyone who suspects they are owed filed on 13th Jul, most who owe will file on the 23rd Oct. Interested to hear if the same verification/audit bullsh*t is applied to them.

Not necessary to wait though, as there is an interest free period until 30 November for amounts owing to SARS.
Past experience shows much quicker audit turnaround times in Jul / Aug. From October the turnaround time is generally much longer. I assume its because they allocate more resources in the early period, and less later.

definitely happened to me. They owe me and I was selected for verification and it seems they going hard with the 21 business days

Overall seems like SARS is leveraging AI or something a lot more to flag for verification / audit.

I wasn't selected for verification for the first time in 7 years and that even with income from rental properties. Numbers were very similar to prior years, which probably helped.

They did say they're gonna be using AI, the cleekybeit article is here somewhere

Trying to get answers out of Liberty as to why they think SARS isn't happy with the tax documents they sent is like pulling teeth  I still can't calculate my tax return, never mind submit it.

I'm having a similar issue. I transferred my pension with changing jobs and now there is missing documents to show I didn't withdraw my pension.

Can someone assist on what to do if there is a request for slips (disability expenses) which there is alot missing due to moving house at the end of last year. Can I use the bank statement as proof with an affidavit?

Most would be dispensed. You can messsage the providers for copies, example every year I fill in a form with Dischem and they give me a dispensary statement for my sons medications which we pay cash for and submit it as well as any specialise visits.

Bank statement won't suffice, they need to see something in the disabled persons name ie: script , treatment etc. Claiming for items like schooling or care will require those statements, accesories o equipment will require invoices detailing as such.

And don't forget the ITR-DD.

Done and dusted this year already, nice to have like 90% loaded and I just need to keep/input my sons disability records.

That doesn't quite make sense. You would only be taxed IF there was a directive where you withdrew the pension. In theory it would be sitting in limbo under the assumption that it was still in the old vehicle UNLESS they submitted a withdrawal vs transfer ( which can easily happen or mess up the transfer, yes I'm looking at you Alexander Forbes ).

Mine is similar but relates to Liberty splitting existing retirement funds due to the two pot system. Liberty has submitted two tax directives for this tax year, one looks to be a provisional and one a final for the actual amounts. The provisional has an issue but **** me if I know where the issue is, the tax directives are identical except for the amount with the final being larger. I didn't submit the tax directives or the IRP5's, I can't change them either and Liberty are proving to be useless in getting it sorted.

The IRP5 from AlexForbes are loaded correctly with the correct sars codes. It's Liberty that is at fault. They need submit a ROT(Recognition Of Transfer)form that confirms they received the funds.

Make 100% sure with AF because when they did mine, the funds were missing for about a week. They said they transfered it, other fund never recieved it and then someone cc'ed me on a internal mail by mistake and suddenly after replying to it, it was accross next day. I have zero faith in AF after that debacle.

The funds already show in Liberty account. Changed jobs in July 2025 and transferred in Oct 2025. I have the cell of the AF fund rep as we emailed often iro changes of staff at previous job. It certainly helped knowing the rep getting the transfer over the line.

SARS has received your supporting documents. Your verification case will be allocated to a resource based on availability and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. We aspire to finalise cases within 21 business days.

This statement is bullcrap, did my Moms tax yesterday, today case assigned to official, mine from the 14th still not assigned.
She needs to pay in, I need to get a refund. So apparent SARS has run out of money.
