The Workout and Fitness Thread

Instead of doing a Squat Clean and Jerk ladder and a 15 minute AMRAP with increasing numbers of Clean and Jerks every round I should just sit on a chair and do tai chi!

The Tai Chi scam & how we can profit from its tricks

wow they also do banner ads
I have been getting AI generated shorts on youtube of taichi, military calisthenics & military workouts for months - all with similar promises/garbage
there must be a substantial pile of money behind this

Do you eat beforehand? I'd look at that before a pre-workout.
Nope - I try and eat a protein bar or something on the way to the gym, but it does not make a huge difference. I gym at 5AM, so don't really want to eat that early.

Are you perhaps trying to lift too much too soon ? e.g. if bodyweight DL is your capacity, are you suddenly trying BW x 1.5 ?

Imagine his body saying... I don't want to workout this early already -

Sugars? Carbs? Water? Salt? Low blood? Can be a few things here better to consult actual doctor than MyDoctor.

So this is most likely a contributing factor. Protein won't make a huge difference.

I specifically get up at 4:30 to eat before training - being properly fueled makes a huge difference to my performance. Something simple like cream of rice + a scoop of whey and a double espresso (because I dont wake without coffee)

(also - I only train heavy, all my mains are 1-5 reps for 3 sets - depending on the week)

Warning for anyone using those metal vacuum bottles/flasks. Found rusting along the mouth piece area of my daughters school bottle.

Lol… I posted my kak in wrong thread should have been here instead.

Eitherway was on 80kg for sandbags and 2x 24 for kettlebells - current max.

Now bags has been revised to
50, 70, 90

New 2x kbs has been ordered which makes them
2x 20, 2x 24, 2x 28

Winter is coming. Going to be fun and same progression routing for new 90 and new 28s before it's same smooth sailing.

90kg would probably be my peak for a while for strongman sandbags with double 28 kettlebells one step before their peak at 2x 32s.

It's crazy how much of a difference "fuel" makes. I had a root canal and my tooth was kak sore... so the one day I only managed to eat 600 calories because of the pain. The next day I was porridge... no go at all.

Now I make sure I hit some carbs like an hour before gym and then I can push 80 / 90 mins and 14 to 18 tons of volume without falling over or getting light headed.

Food, sleep and weight - all have a massive impact.

My body just can't do as much for as long on 5-6 hours sleep vs 7-8 hours.

And I'm up at 108kg at the moment, my 5km time has plummeted,. my 5min of jumping rope feels like 20min...

I am so fking tired of Kettlebell YouTubers spouting nonsense like 'Do this KB complex for 20 minutes to get excellent physique' while clearly having a bodybuilder physique that must have been result of hundreds of hours of non Kettlebell exercises.

My workout yesterday - hyrox men’s double. I felt like I should have pushed harder after I crossed the finish line.

Most of them are bs I can link the few ones that are less so but still normal buyer beware for all of these people apply. What I found with KBs is you need to define what you want out of them as a whole - I know its thing we should all know and probably are doing already but this sometimes changes. I started with KB religious only coming from gym setup and today years later I just realized well **** you need mobility, and supportive things. What those things are; again are defined by what you want as a whole. I can even pm you my current setup. But even that is product of being in maintenance mode for a while because of current work situation...

...also excellent physique - well even that depends on WTF you do and actually want VS what is possible for you without looping yourself into depression. I don't like look statue of David either, ergo if you want the classic gold standard look then you should do the classic gold standard look. All of this is also dependent on your end goals.

Well after over 3 months out with a knee tendon thing, I'm back.
It's dire :D

Did a couple of test runs last week to make sure all was good, and then started a Runna return to running program this morning. Very reassuringly, it expects me to run/walk for a while. I was worred that it was unusual to lose so much fitness so quickly.

My wife did it - I was there as her emotional support animal.

She's been asking me for ages to do it with her - I realized while watching I would never do it. WAAAAY too much cardio. Best I can commit to is Deadly Dozen.

She finished in 1:20 - and feels she could have done more, but - it was her first one, so I think, all things considered - it was a good time.
