Historic characters?I do find it annoying when historic characters are re-cast as other races. I would have as big an issue if Shaka was portrayed by a white dude as with Helen of Troy being done by an African of dark skin. It makes zero sense. Put actors in the role they are meant. When you watch a movie you want to immerse yourself in the story and the characters for the most part, not be distracted by obvious inaccuracies.
Although there was an old movie where John Wayne portrayed Genghis Khan - The Conqueror (1956). Apparently it was quite bad.I'll take my own odyssey and stick to my Ben-Hur, The Fall of the Roman Empire, El Cid, Lawrence of Arabia, Quo Vadis, Spartacus etc. for my EPIC movies fix. I just prefer old movie making. Back then they didn't try to fit a certain social mold and message, it was just about creating a great movie (historically accurate or not), and without CGI of course, unlike today.![]()
