Agreed - came up on my Facebook feed as a sponsored ad. That was likely the first red flag.

I'm sad. My Venu 2's battery is starting to give issues. In the past I managed to get 10+ days if I didn't use GPS, now not so much. I fully charged it last night. 12 hours later and it is already <80% battery.

It seems that my escapades of replacing my Venu 2's battery led to its ultimate downfall. Opened it up to take a look the other night and saw some corrosion, which can only mean I didn't seal the watch properly when I did the replacement.
Cleaned the corrosion and connected everything and the sensors came back to life, so that's a win. I am giving it to a friend at work if I can assemble it properly and it still works, but I have no faith in it living for much longer.
I wish these things were a bit more repair friendly.

Garmin launches the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro with up to 57 days of battery life
Garmin has just launched the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches, with the latter boasting the first full titanium case and largest AMOLED screen in the Fenix line ever.
The Fenix 9 has a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a titanium rear cover, and a screen with twice the brightness of its predecessor, with a sapphire crystal on top. It's dive-rated to 40m and has leak-proof buttons. There's also 50% more RAM than on the Fenix 8, and a more powerful map engine with 30% faster panning. The watch has 64GB of storage, twice as much as the Fenix 8.
The Fenix 9 is available in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm, and it comes with Garmin Epic, a feature that groups together activities recorded over several days, weeks, or months to create an "Epic" (hence the name). You can see your health and performance data during that time, add photos, and share everything with friends. The Fenix 9 also gives you more insights during an indoor rowing session, it comes with expanded rucking features, and new stamina tracking logic with stamina zones and stamina curve.
The Fenix 9 Pro has all of that and a new design, a 3,000-nit peak brightness on its screen, a 1.5" size display on the 51mm model, and you can get solar charging displays on "select Pro models", which "offer weeks of battery life", Garmin says. Also on select Pro models is inReach connectivity, with LiveTrack notifications through LTE, Garmin Locate, weather forecasts sent directly to your watch for any specific location, and emergency help from the 24/7 staffed Garmin Response coordination center if you need it.
