Just run a little gayer. Hope that helpsQuestion for the more versed runners. Starting out on my long run this morning I encountered two women running (separately) in the same direction I was headed. The route was going out of town, so not that much foot traffic normally. I was already on the opposite side of the road from them. In order to not look like a weirdo trailing them for the entire run and making them feel unsafe I completely blew any chance of a zone 2 run, accelerated past and kept the pace up until I lost them around a bend. They must have turned around since I didn't encounter them again on my way back.
Are there any established unwritten rules/best practices for situations like that?

For me i run with earphones in, and i'd just do a wave and good morning. The fact you in running gear and all should be a green flag for them to not worry. I try give off the appearance of being friendly guy out on the run. If the weather is nice or something i'd even say like "morning, nice day for a run hey!". After that i just try stick to myself and focus on looking forward and making sure i don't look their way, if they eyening me they would see i am not looking at them.Question for the more versed runners. You are dressed in proper running gear. People see a person who looks like a runner that is running. I think you overthinking this oneQuestion for the more versed runners. Nice! Congrats. Just make sure to take good care of that ankle.Yesterday I twisted my ankle right after the start of parkrun, and did a spectacular tumble-roll. I iced it and took Mybulin, so the ankle was only a little tweaky today.
I did Old Eds 10K (hah- 10.25km!) this morning, coming in at 57:47, which makes it my fastest 10K race ever, and my my fastest 10km ever (56:28). Also my first time doing 10km this year.
The first 2km of the race is all downhill, but after that it's mostly uphill.
