180,000km of fibre and AI sustained Telkom’s 475.7% data explosion

Telkom used Openserve’s 180,000km fibre network and AI-driven platforms to ensure that skyrocketing data demand and slower data revenue growth remained sustainable.

From 2019 to 2026, Telkom’s mobile data traffic grew nearly 2.4 times faster than its mobile data revenue. Mobile data traffic exploded over those seven years, with usage increasing by 475.7%.

I love how MTN and Vodacom complain the cheaper data hurt their revenue, yet Telkom celebrates the uptake in data demand.

All of this complaining while all these companies still make billions (with a B) in profit.
