PS5

Sony can thank their lucky stars that Xbox's studios misfired this generation. This waste of time chasing a live service hit has cost the fans new games from top studios this generation.

Yep, they did follow the "trend" and it didn't pan out.

But, thinking Sony have no competition when there is Nintendo, Xbox and PC gaming out there is just idiotic.

For sure, Nintendo is quietly doing their own thing and PC gaming has surged over the last few years. Right now, the best gaming of both worlds is having a PC and PS5 imo (or Switch if you into Pokemon and Mario), although having a PS will most likely become more viable now going forward since Sony discontinued PC ports.

Yep, the bottom line is one has choice as to their preferred gaming. As has been said many times before, I have a gaming PC that hasn't been used as such for years now. I align with those that have enough of PC's and laptops at work, and prefer to sink into the Lazyboy and fire up the console during downtime.

And yes, I know one can PC game in the lounge, but I don't want to have to update drivers and optimise game settings constantly.

I have been doing that as of late, PS is on standby now for GTA so I am lounge gaming on the laptop in Crimson Desert. Yeah it is a slep to unpack and plug in at night, but that is the sacrifice for a game like CD that just runs so much better on PC.

The older I get, I also don't want to go sit in a study behind a desk at night, just want to chill in the lounge with a game.

Can someone explain the above post to me? Not the first time he has dropped some random screenshot. And Im not going to click on it, if that is his aim :)

We are so far into this generation of consoles that it really is old news by now that both Sony and Xbox have had a pretty shyte time over the last 4-5 years.

Both had some epic failures, made bad business decisions and ultimately it came down to how many fans came across from previous generation and stuck with a brand due to being in an ecosystem. Sony was so strong in PS4 era whereas Xbox was in a kek place with the Xbox One.

Neither can say they did well this gen, it was just who had the bigger base that came over to this gen.

Like I said previously, Sony can just be fortunate that Xbox went sideways because they started with a bang with the cheaper Series S and Gamepass and if it wasn't for the lack luster releases and "everything is an Xbox" which alienated fans they could have dominated.

"It is lucky, you know, we are in the latter half of the lifetime cycle of a PS console. That means that we do not need to aggressively sell the console today. And rather than that, we're focusing on recurring revenue from the current, you know, the user base."

Straight up telling you how much they are planning to milk you.

Sony IS having a good gen, despite what people think about their 1st party output. The PS5 has made them more money than all the other gens combined, and it's not even done yet. And there's a bunch of huge games coming out in the next year and a half, considering everything they messed up and covid...I'd say it's doing great lol

Absolutely. I've posted before they just had their most profitable year ever. Not sure why folk keep on wanting to repeat this fallacy.

Well the PS5 is garbage for almost all current or last year release games.

Pragmata, Crimson Desert and games like NTE look bad and play at about max 30 fps. I suppose Pro is the only way to go, but the experience with all of these is far superior on PC. Even Expedition 33 stutters.

The addition of "Pro" versions takes away from the benefit of console owning. All games launched on the gen should play the same and there should be no need for Pro versions. Going Pro is essentially owning a low power, single use, expensive game PC.

A nice f-sck you to Sony is to play your free to play game and top up on the service's website, so Sony gets 0, nothing. Fsck you Sony. The network features also work sans any PS+.
