The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

I think the ABs was very happy this weekend that most of the 50-50 decisions went there way, on any other day and with another ref it might not have.

The reason Rassie picked Pollard most likely is for consistency, with Manie and Sasha you never sure who is going to arrive for the game.

Kolisi I am worried about, his body after years of top rugby is close to sat.

You start using k*k like that to excuse AB tries we are quickly going back to 2011-2015 when they run riot and bend the rules and get the refs allowing 50/50 offsides, fwd passes, obstruction running and other ways of trickery....for the sake of "positive rugby". :sick:

Thats not an excuse for anyone. its what the rules say. Don't we want refs to keep to the rules?
The whole thing about how the ball is leaving the players hands came from that.
If you judge a pass from where it was passed to where it was received, almost every backline move will be stopped for a forward pass.

Jajaja but not convinced in this case. Love caught the ball and then passed almost standing still At best he did one step forward. No momentum to account for the ball going forward in the air by what ended up to be several meters once it got to the wing.
His hands also aimed forward IMO.

Why, its just the keyboard warriors saying the usual crap.
People with a lot more rugby knowledge than me and most people on this thread think otherwise that Boks have a fair shot.

Who drinks beer at the stadium?

Brannas and coke or nothing. I was there. R900 for 8 x 2.

Very good reason also. 8 brannas = 1 piss. Time it 10 min before half-time.

Another 8 brannas 2nd piss, 15-10 mins before end.

1 beer = 2 pisses. Miss the whole game.

NZ gaan Kak in CPT.......................they just had a lucky day, best performance ""on the day"" in JHB.

The last match the Bokke came to scrum... and NZ came to play Rugby.

CPT is a new match, Boks will try to play rugby and NZ will scrum.

Going to be Interesting!

Boks are set piece bullies.

Tony has been working hard at adding another string to our bow but Saturday showed just how difficult a task it is against a side that doesn't give an inch.
 

Sacha really had a shocker. I blamed our conservative tactics for the bluntness of the backline but it really was Sacha screwing up our opportunities when we were on attack. Those forward out the back passes that he missed killed our attack.

I think SFM is a long way from ready. You can see it. He is nervous.... and he was nervous on Saturday. That's a confidence issue. It's almost as though Sasha feels the need to prove to himself each game that he is worthy of being picked. That's why he's so nervous. When he misses a kick or makes an error and everyone gets to see his facial reaction on a big screen, we're all witnessing a young player who is not mentally ready/mature. That's my view, anyway.

As others have said before me, how does one get players ready other than occasionally throw them into the deep end? It's just that he lacks experience all round. It could be a good decision to play him a little less, so as to preserve his abilities and make better use of him in future. Rather give him the time he needs to settle in properly. Otherwise it could ruin his playing career. That would not be good.

AFAIK no brannas at Cape Town Stadium.

Also, he had a long injury lay-off before the Puma game. Some times it takes a player a while to get back in the groove they were in before the injury hit.
