That's a solid pace you're keeping there!

I have been very overweight for most of my adult life. Getting married made me fat  Actually leaving home did.

I have tried all sorts of diets and they work for a while - but I always end up putting the weight back on. So I decided to go to an Endocrinologist and make sure I have not damaged my body completely yet. Luckily I am not prediabetic and cholesterol is fine. She did find that I am insulin resistant though. Fasting insulin was much too high. So I opted to start on the GLP-1. Been on the 0.25mg for 4 weeks and have lost 8kgs and quite a few cms from my waist. My BMI is noticeably lower too.

I know a lot of people are against these meds but for me it helps well because I get fuller faster. So I eat less. I stopped most carb and sugars and coldrinks, only have a diet drink occasionally. I prioritise protein and veggies with fibre in, drinking lots of water and I stopped alcohol. I think sometimes you have to weigh the pros and cons and decide what you are willing to do to get what you need. I need to be able to move easily - which I cannot do at the moment. As we get older, movement becomes more important.

I think in your situation it warrants it. In a few months you'll be used to not having sugar and alcohol. If you maintain that when you reach your goal, you'll maintain without the need for drugs.

My system is simple, avoid junk food, cut out all sugars, halve my alcohol intake (yeah don't want to give that up totally ;))

You don't have to give it up. I do because I literally have a whole person to lose. So eventually I will allow it occasionally. But I do feel so much better not drinking. I can drink a lot without it affecting me much.

There is no reason to be against these meds. Sounds like its working well for you. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Federal litigation alleging GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro caused severe gastroparesis, intestinal blockages, and other gastrointestinal injuries without adequate warnings to patients and physicians.

Can speak for this I have never had such severe stomach pain and cramps as well as constipation in my life. Stayed on the toilet for hours without sleep stopped wegovy after that .Sad cause I lost about 17kgs in 5 months

Had to switch to notch #4 on my belt today as my pants were falling off my hips. Started as a tight #1 in Feb. :D
Well done. My pants still fit me (size 36 jeans, down from 38/40; 2 years ago) even if I did put on 3Kg in last 6 months. I can only attribute this to Kettlebell swings which mainly target posterior chain.

It will be nice if I eat less though.

Someone sent me a box of treats when I was sick recently, and I ended up taking a cheat day last week Wednesday and ended up eating all the chocolates, nougats and chocolate chip cookies. And ^there^ you have it. Now you know why I don't keep sweets at home anymore.

But onward to 99kg...

I'm not jealous... at all... (I am... lol). I'm up to 210 days of tracking everything I eat and being disciplined. I'm at 1500 kcal a day, 1800ish on lifting days.

Eating whole foods, chicken, beef, fish. Carb sources are potato, whole wheat pasta, rice. Basically no sugar, I don't add sugar to my coffee, barely eat sweets except for some dark chocolate (98 kcal for 4 blocks).

I'm doing 2 to 3 gym visits a week where I do 14 to 19 tons of volume and jump on the treadmill for 20 min incline walk afterwards.

We took a trip to slaapstad for 2 weeks... I took my fekking food scale with... I hit the gym while I was there.

Not all bodies are the same. I'm finally making progress. I've had to add medical intervention (reta) on TOP of the above.

i lost nearly 30kg's about 3 or 4 years when i started going back to gym and have kept it off easy.

I went from around 120kgs to 94kgs and today i sit at 105kg's. The biggest difference is muscle mass thought and i have been building a lot of that byt hard gyming and eating correct (lost of protein).

The scale is very decieving i have been on a 2 week trying to loose some body fat and i know i am in a calorie deficiet but my weight is not shifting. Then randomly one day my scale shifted by 1.5kg's and then the next went up to 107 so like a gain of nearly 2.5kgs in a day.

Water weight is a huge thing that kills a lot of people motivation when losing weight. To put on 0.7kgs thats nearly 7700 calories over your maintemance calories. So thats 1100 extra per day.

I'd weight yourself over the course of the next few days an i am quite certain that number will drop. The increased carbs and sugar would have resulted in your body hanging onto more water.

If you eat too little it can be just as bad as eating too much. Your body goes into a starvation mode which makes you plateau and not lose weight.

I was in a bad calorie deficiet for a year and couldn't lose any weight/ I pushed my calories up and i started losing again after like 2 ot 3 months.

Managing your metabolism is crucial and if you diet for too long your body adapts to the less food so you not in a calorie deficit anymore

According to the math my BMR should be around 1800ish... with a maintenance around 2100ish. A 500 cal deficit should be around 1600. So aiming for 1500 most days is not "aggressive" as such. 1200 kcal would be aggressive (according to this math). This was when I was sedentary towards the end of last year and beginning this year. I didn't see weight or measurement changes eating like this. Then I added exercise.

How bad? What were your stats if you don't mind sharing (i.e. height/weight/age)?

I know if we eat pizza on a Friday (which is now once every 3rd Friday instead of every Friday) I'm going up like 2 to 3kg on the scale over the weekend easily. The morning after a hard gym session I also end up with higher weight on the scale the next morning.

This is why I have measurements also. lol.

I'm happy with my current progression. I'll rather lose half a kg a week, still eat "normal" and make progress... than going on one of these crash diets, feel miserable and pack on weight afterwards.

1800 seems quite low thats why i made my comment. I am very active like 4 to 5 gym sessions a week minimum of 1 hour plus at 70-80% HR so maybe i have lost a bit of touch with things. I stopped tracking things maybe 2 years ago and meansurements have stayed more or less the same or increased from muscle mass. I have visible veins in my arms and hands now so fat % has been dropping as well.

I lost my weight and was scared to increase calories, so i lost my weight over 6 to 8 months at a decent 1kg+- per week rate it was healthy and all but staying that low stuffed my metabolism up bad. A similar situation has happened to a family member recently as well but i jumped in and help them a bit with my experience.

H - 1.87
W - 94
A - Maybe like 28 or so

You stay too long too low it screws your body up and then it takes so long to fix it. My metabolism is so fast now since i started increasing calories over the past year or so but now that i want to lose a few kgs i am always hungry  but its okay i am taking a slower approach and know how to get there

Yea so gym = sore muscles = water retention since your body needs water to repair.

My weight after gym session because of water in take while gyming can be like 2kgs more than before i left.

The scale is terrible

That's why I weigh in on Tuesdays, so the weekend excess is lost on Monday.
I'd still say that gain is a bit much but you doing really well keep it up!

I've been in this weight loss thing for so long i know for me to get accurate scale readings i have to get an average over a week and use the scale like 3 to 4 times minimum.
