The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

Supersport and World Rugby has a habbit of immediately copyrighting his videos almost immediately.
I'm not with you.

You said him being permitted to use (presumably) SABC content, is reason enough to pay your tv license.

Right?

Perhaps I misunderstood.

If he just has to get permission, then anyone can get permission. If not just anyone, then I ask again... what did he have to do to get it i.e. vs anyone else?

p.s. In other words there is ofc a qui pro quo, with so-called "Intellectual Property(IP)".... it's a legal privilege which you can leverage to get one over on those without the privilege. There is probably a condition attached to using the content. I'm wondering what that condition is.

He has attempted to get permission from both parties and they typically say no.

Oh..... so is he just using someone else's content for visuals, then?

As I understand copyright, it's a form of IP that you can't apply for. It's automatically the creator's (You can't even dispossess yourself of it i.e. give it away legally).

Which I imagine is why there are strict controls on use of cameras within the ground.

p.s. perhaps they are declaring/asserting the copyright on the basis they know he is using their footage specifically.

Ok blu82, I think I understand what you meant.

If you pay your tv license you won't rely on squidge(/other youtubers) content remaining up on youtube.... because if he is declined permission/falls foul of ip(for using content captured by licensed cameras/cameras in poll position) then it won't.

This kiwi's analysis is exceptionally good...

He's an AB fan, but he's actually Sri Lankan apparently per a previous video of his.

He reviews are generally quite good, up there with Squidge at times, but his statistical analysis, number crunching videos, he oft falls victim to many a trap in those videos with the 'conclusions' he tries to draw.

I have been off the socials because it is crazy either NZ or SA supporter going mad.

The problem is most of the supporters don't watch anything but International rugby and don't understand the game has evolved. A few weeks back some drunk guy was telling me he is the biggest rugby supporter, followed by he doesn't watch URC, who is Paul DE Villers, why are we box kicking then ref this ref that. These are the guys with the loud mouths on social media.

Rennie starting things he can't back up in the media has also ruined the tournament for me, I am watching the games but honestly this tourney can end and bring back URC. Lying to get an advantage just seems dumb.

I may have missed it in this thread but don't think anyone has brought up how poor our kicking exits were. Between Sasha and Cobus if they cleared it was like giving NZ a penalty line out on the 22. Only when MVB came on did we get a clearance to the half way line. Just fixing this will halve NZ attacking opportunities.

Rennie has done a lot of damage to his own reputation with his media attacks on rassie and the boks

Lost a lot of respect for nz if im honest

Predictions boys ! What’s the score some Saturday.

I’m going for Boks by 20.
Too tight to call.

2 major factors, 1. The weather - wet or dry test and 2. The scrums - if Nika is going to police the scrums like Angus did, we are in for a long afternoon.

I might go for the reverse jinx again this week. NZ by 3.

Dryish test 31-34 NZ
Wet test 17-21.NZ

Dry test with scrum dominance rewarded 34-29 SA
Wet test with scrum dominance rewarded 21-17 SA

I'm struggling to get used to the return to the taking of 3-pointer opportunities.

After being a bit spoiled by non-stop corner kicks followed by tries, the 3-pointers just look a bit... well, gay tbh.
That strategy worked for quite a while...and brilliantly! But like everything in life, change/adapt or be left behind.
Rassie IMO has got too cocky, too reckless with this constant swopping and changing of squad members of late , leaving key players out of matches, substituting too early and often at inappropriate times , so ya....think we need a major reset or NZ are prob gonna take the 2027 RWC at this rate....they certainly are not the NZ of the last 2 years who lost against every S Hemisphere teams, on multiple occassions and many of the Northen ones.

Well apparently there is no fly over - so yeah it seems the planets ( weather ) will be our downfall.

Reverse jinx for me too - AB's by 2 scores comfortably - Ruben Love man of the match ( with a jaw line like that )

Yep.

It's control-freakish stuff, man.

Although, I'm guessing that if there was some kind of (open source)AI db with all the private phone footage from ticket holders filming throughout the game, they could no nothing to take that AI-compiled footage down legally.

All the stuff that gets taken down is footage taken from licensed, cable-suspended cameras i.e. the ones with the best/closest angles etc.

I keep saying this but it seems people don't understand it.

Rassie has no choice. He has to rotate in order to comply with SA Players and World Rugby's max game time framework or whatever you want to call it. He also has to pretty much assume that if a Bok is available to a franchise, the franchise will play him.

How many games and minutes has Ruan Nortje played this year?

Not only that, Rassie is 100% committed to building squad depth ahead of the RWC, 2027 AND 2031 editions.

Rassie's focus and thinking is very much big picture!!
