The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

Great win by the Boks. Nice to see them dominate the second half. Hooker, de Allende, Malcolm, Manie, Morné, Cameron were monsters. Ardie, Cam, Jordan were great for All Blacks. Our forward back was the difference today. Malcolm's try was a thing of beauty, reminiscent of Japan 2019 world cup.

Well done to Nika. He backed himself on every call, got one or two wrong for both sides but best performance of the three refs so far.

My fail from the game was SuperSport producers. Really irritating when they keep on showing so called celebrities in the VIP boxes, often busy with their cellphones, instead of the players and replays of crucial plays. Nobody cares if Gayton McKenzie, Multichoice CEO of Patrice Motsepe are at the game. Show is the game please.

Loads of people saying they don't want to be constantly shown footage of politicians in corporate boxes during the match. Politicians etc. that weren't even interested in the game..... bored with eyes glued to their phone screens.

Even when there is a reset or break in play..... rugby supporters want to watch the players, on the field.

Supersport et al apparently has a legal privilege to position cameras and get the best footage (and to threaten violence unless youtube prevents others using that footage). Now we can see what that special privilege leads to.

What a second half performance. Thought it was over when Kolbe went off. Manie was outstanding. Should start next week.
There is a reason Manie comes off the bench and then performs as he does. Man has talent, but he has glaring weaknesses to his game wrt starting a test match.

Forgotten the harsh lessons from previous seasons, esp 2025? Or need another pk from Aussies.

He had a good game but was not so good again on defending the try line. At least on one occasion in both the last 2 games.

Last week he fluffed the Carter tackle. This week he stepped passed the ball which was picked up by an AB for a try.

Fortunately for the boks Ruben Love had an off day with his goal kicking. He missed 2 conversions and 1 penalty.... would have sealed the game for the ABs as the boks ended up winning by only 5.

Well it was a big marketing exercise for DSTV.
When the camera went over the dstv staff in the crowd holding boards saying the rumours are true - 17Sep. It just about confirm standalone Sport packages coming 17th

Can you show where they threatened violence?

It’s not unheard of that major sports events the cameras will look and see who’s in the crowd more as to show that it’s important and just a general positive drive.

I’ve seen many celebs, PM, presidents and even the royals at high profile matches or events sitting and yawning and bored out their skulls.

It’s PR bother, people mustn’t take it seriously. It’s not like supersport purposefully said let’s do it to piss of everyone.

Now let’s see how much that new Supersport package is going to be mmmmm…

Oh and we have F1 Monza, such a fast track.

A simple example is when the cameras turned away from on-field action and onto the crowd or corporate boxes, when it could have been showing the cause of Ruben Love being yellow carded.

If you give someone a license not to perform, they'll probably take most opportunities to save on the cost of their task/duties.

I'm only singling the monopoly-holder position out..... the criticism is really of the perverse incentives involved in State-granted monopolies, not who the current occupier of that monopoly/cartel is.
