Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

It went quiet for several hours, but now (9pm) I am seeing distant lightning moving in from the North.

P.S. What does that red line on the table/chart mean?

Really started to thunder and flash around 10pm last night. And then the rain came. The run off from the gutters has made an appreciable difference to the pool level, which is good.

Oh, that red line... Whoops. Might have been when I was taking a screenshot of my weather app.

When I got this landing page when accessing the link, I just clicked on the "Do this later" at the bottom and I could read the article. I do not know if there's a limit for accessing before being forced to register.

Valid point, but IMO the article is completely irrelevant and out of date by now (the warning was issued days ago).

I tried taking a few photos, but no luck so far. Very windy and wet on my balcony so I had to stop. P.S. My windows are not clean and streak free to take photos through.
shame on you for dirty windows...lmao...what are you doing with your retirement time...

slept right through all the crazy weather...

I live on the 3rd floor, and it gets very dusty when the wind blows. Cleaning the outside of my lounge windows is not within my scope. As building caretaker, I do light-bulbs, burst geysers, blocked drains, electric fences, etc. Not cleaning.

P.S. I asked my char to do them on Friday, but she declined, pointing out (correctly) that it was just going to rain anyway. Nobody expected such a nice lightning show!

Just got some magnificent flashes of lightning here in the north!!!!!! I hope my water tank is finally going to be happy!

The SAWS reports widespread scattered rain during the 24 hours to 8am on Mon 14th. Highest include Ceres 24mm, Jonkershoek 24mm, Robertson 23mm, Clanwilliam 20mm, Swellendam 20mm, Wellington 20mm, Laingsburg 19mm, Kirstenbosch 18mm, Cape Town (CBD) 17mm, etc. Also of note were Pofadder (NC) 44mm, Calvinia (NC) 36mm, Upington (NC) 21mm, etc.

My water tank is still unhappy. :( It needs more water!

Almost certainly heavily PS'ed at best, completely modified by AI more likely...

As @Gordon_R mentioned a few pages back why do some of you insist on posting "unreal" imagery...you as bad as bots!!

Didn't need AI to tell me this, but maybe you are clueless!

That photo is from a 2015 thunderstorm by the looks of it.. The image is watermarked Brendon Wainwright who took video and photographs of the lightning.. So this is probably a bunch of photos of individual strikes merged together..

So not AI, but also not from last night's event..

Ah yes it is an old one

Agreed (though I didn't want to say), it's the social media effect: 'I saw it on FB' so therefore it must be true, and I will repost it elsewhere...

The second point is that during this event, there were almost no cloud-to-ground strikes, so it cannot be the same event. Most of the strikes were cloud-to-cloud (what we used to call 'sheet' lighting). The key difference is long rumbles of thunder, rather than a sharp crack.
