Water meter with wifi for remote meter reading

It seems a little flimsy though to put it behind your council meter on your main supply line.

It is actually not, and it can be plumbed into your main line. The fittings included are just for those who want to connect it to irrigation or borehole lines.

The white section containing the meter is the actual part that needs to be plumbed in. It appears to be very heavy duty plastic, and the electronic meter itself simply slides into its socket. No water passes through it.

I assume its full title. Check your insurance. Mine paid R10 000 for water loss when I reported a leak, and the council just said "its on my side".

It's definitely my problem, the leak was in the polycop supply line on my side of the meter. Unfortunately the pipe runs through very porous ground down the side of my house and the water didn't even bubble up to the surface. The only reason I even discovered the leak was because I check my water meter once a week. The problem we have in our area is that they mess around with the water pressure all the time and every now and then the area's water pressure spikes and if you have any weaknesses in these old polycop pipes, they burst along the seam of the weakness.

install a pressure regulator where the pipe enter your property, after municipal meter to help with this.

Definitely an option. The plumber who fixed the leak also suggested replacing the polycop with a newer type of pipe.

That is the optimal solution, unsure about the labor cost though, maybe ask for different options then consider your budget.

I’m gonna need to do something similar but my old pipes are galvanised steel

This looks interesting … do you have it linked to HomeAssistant or do you just use the Rainpoint App?

I use the RainPoint app. I've got the rain guage, temperature and humidity meter, this flow meter and the 8 channel irrigation controller.

The app is decent, and I've got some smart scenes set up but it would have been great if I could get it in Ewelink. I use that to control my well and irrigation pumps, and some lights.

Then, Tuya for a wifi universal remote to control my aircon. Haha.

I had planned to tinker with home assistant while I was on leave, but I ended up doing nothing I planned.

Any updates here?

I want to measure and record the irrigation usage from my borehole tanks.
I already have a standard municipal-type water meter on the outgoing line after the pump. But that is manual AF.

Something that can work with smartlife/tuya would be great.

I just installed one of these inline after the pump to be able to take readings manually.

Looking for a Wi-Fi-type inline meter that works with tuya/smartlife.
 
These exist. I think I may be getting me one of these .
