Hey peeps..

Stuck on this one: lady cannot send any email in her outlook expres.... she uses TelkomInternet as ISP..can receive 100% but not send to anyone.....i've tried creating other account profiles in outlook and they also don't want to send anything...the error is like this:


Here is the error on my machine XP/OS and problem in Outlook Express:
The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.peoplestel.net',
Server: 'pop.peoplestel.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-
ERR Cannot connect to POP server 137.118.25.69 (137.118.25.69:110),
connect error 10061', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90,
Error Number: 0x800CCC90

this is the wording of the problem ....taken from another website just to show msg

i've tried:

-smtp's : smtp.saix.net , smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net :failed
-the ip addy instead of the smtp server name : failed
-other ISP account (W.A) : failed
-ports 25 and 110 are correctly defined : not that
-telnet to smtp.saix.net :works
-tried another email account : failed
-have also tried ipconfig/flushdns ; manual repair of adapter ; netsh winsock reset...

-account is not capped , skype and browsing works 100% .... email receiving works fine but everything gets stuck in outbox....you can move all to drafts and just create a small test msg...nothing!

it gives me the idea her O/S (xp.pro.sp3) has got a problem...

malware scanners/virus scanners = clean!!

i'm out of ideas :) ...heeelp please
 
Firewall maybe blocking port 25?

Disable antivirus? What antivirus is she using?
 
hey Franna

She running avast...i've disabled outgoing mail scan...didn't help.

I've uninstalled it , and dropped the firewall for testing purposes but that also didn't help.

If you could post the exact error message it would be a lot easier. The above is an error message for receiving mail, not sending.

II highly doubt it a windows error - most likely an incorrect setting on the mail account. Check that you have not select SSL or authentication for the SMTP server settings.
 
hehe no worries this is NOT a local problem :)

saix engineer confirmed our local ESR is fubar...SMTP blockage in progress :(
 
i've logged on with the user's adsl account and made a post with outlook ....thus another pc , location ...same result = upstream provider!
 
SAIX started blocking port 25 if PC sends mass mails. Easiest to check this is to telnet port 25 and see if you can access different SMTP servers. If you can’t its blocked and you must phone them. If you use different ADSL username and password you will be able to send mail
